A beautiful gold #19 Traveler set -- a golden gem from the 1930s -- for the real affluent gentleman. In a great leather case. With an unused boar bristle brush. Just like the rhodium-plated #16, but with 24 carat gold instead of rhodium
Hot dog that is a very nice set you have there. I bet that'd look even better on my display! Very nice.
Looks like Mr Razor calls this set a No. 3 Aristocrat set. Very interesting naming conventions Gillette created.
Whatever it's called, the set is rare and even rarer that it's gold-plated as you know the British Gillette's of this period were mostly rhodium-plated. Finding a gold-plated Gillette razor made in Britain is like finding a gold-plated Gillette "ABC" Empire Pocket Edition... it just don't happen often. Even on into the "modern" era such as the gold-plated flare-tip Rocket. They just didn't do many gold-plated razors across the pond. Hold on to that set. I'm envious.
Good point Jody regarding the infrequent use of gold for plating those Gillettes that were made in the UK. Wonder why -- was Rhodesia a British colony thus a source of inexpensive rhodium? Seems pretty likely, and the gold mines in the US. Interesting supply issue. And now?
I must say I do love me a TTO as well as loving me a OC. There are not too many TTO OC most are 2/3 piece and most TTO are not OC
