Hello all I've been DE shaving for about a year now. I had always since my first days of shaving had irritated skin, bumps, nicks and burns using cartridge razors. I hated shaving. I stumbled across a forum post somewhere about safety razors and fell face first into the wonderful world of real shaving. I can't for the life of me remember why my dad ever switched from safety razors to disposables. I suppose the fast shave was the answer. Sadly I never got the chance to ask him. But I do have fond memories of hearing the rattling of the shave brush in his shave cup. I've not tried many products so far. I started with Proraso shaving soap and pre-shave (used better as after-shave), a Merkur HD /persona blades, and a standard badger hair brush. The only other product I've tried is Musko aftershave. I've also switch over to Feather razor blades, which I like much better than persona. I think I've spent several hours here today reading many excellent posts and learned quite a lot. I was so intrigued by TSD products I just had to order some. The only reason I have stuck with Proraso is the cool menthol feeling and slight refreshing scent throughout my day. After seeing the SubZero soap I had to have it with extra menthol. I showed the site to my wife and let her pick out an aftershave. I don't know what the guys at work are gonna say about me smelling like coconut, but I added some menthol to that too! So anyway, great site and great advice form some great people from what I see.

First off , great avatar. Lee Van Cleef is a legend, any movie he's in I like, even Captain Apache! Secondly great post , my initial set up was exactly yours, with the exception of the personnas. Never new shaving would become such a interest for me , but that it has , welcome.
