Made my monthly trek to Wally world to pick up several things, including my usual 2 pucks of VDH deluxe soap. My heart was racing as I turned the shaving supply aisle corner, hoping that there may be something new that hasn't been there the past twenty times. I always feel at home in the shaving aisle. I sidled up to the section where the VDH has always been, and nothing there but a huge hole, from front to back. My first thought was that they were out of stock or they relocated it. I scored the entire section to no avail. But, I looked around, now frantically, and didn't see any of the old time shaving stuff. NO brushes, NO bowls, NO VDH! Did I ask? Ever try and find someone to ask at Walmart that would know?

So, I went about my business to get the remaining items on my list, complete with my bottom lip pouting out, then leaving the store feeling betrayed. I know I can get VDH at Walgreens, for a buck more, which won't break my bank, but Darn it, is wally world discontinuing the good old stuff?

  2. Alas, my local Wal-Mart only stocks the VDH Deluxe. No bowls, brushes, or other soaps. Target does carry "The Dridecker" Shea Moisture Brush (love it, btw) but nothing else. I had to go to an ole timey family owned drugstore to find pucks of William's. Everything else I've had to buy online. :(

I had to stop at WW last night. While there, I swung by the shaving isle to see if they had a pack of the Wilkinson blades (none there) and noticed that there was a plethora of VDH. Didn't count it, but had to be about 20 pucks on the shelf. I was amazed as normally there is one or two on the shelf if Im lucky.

Maybe the shelf tag just fell off???

My local store is out of VDH too. Been out for a while. Kinda bummed about it.

In southeast Michigan I can find VDH at Rite-Aid. Usually just the Select is available. I buy my VDH on eBay in quantity.

Depending on the Walmart Wilks might not be in the shaving aisle at all but behind the counter with the tobacco products, condoms and razor blade carts. The Walmart in question might be placing them in a place they can't be stolen or sampled.

Yes and no. Yes they do keep some blades behind the counter but no, only the super pricey fusion cartridges are kept there, all other blades are in the shaving aisle.

Also, no VDH or brush/bowl kit, but they do carry the Shea Moisture shave cream in the tub... go figure. I've never used it but I did take a smell and to me it is pungently awful.

The Targets and Wal Marts around me are very sparse when it comes to wet shaving. Heck even the Wal Greens near me isn't that great. There's a Rite Aid about 10 miles away that has some stuff...scored a glass bottle of AV there a month ago. My Target has nothing of interest and WM just a few splashes. Finding soaps is hit and miss though I don't use the drug store soaps anyway. It's getting harder and harder to find anything good offline.

vdh select is all i can find in walmart and some don't seem to even have that anymore. I wanted some Williams and had to go to an out of the way drug store to get that. Most places that had a few wet shaving products seem to carry less and less.

I was just at my local WM today...they have Wilkinson blades but no other soaps, creams, or brushes. The only shaving accessory I found in my po-dunk town was a cheap boar brush at my local CVS. I'm saving my money for an online purchase of exactly what I want

I have seen VDH soap (both deluxe and glycerin) at my local wally world recently. It is also at my local Fred Meyers. Not sure if Freddy's is just a pacific northwest chain, but I believe they are owned by Kroger's (or maybe it's the other way around).

    Good Luck,

My local grocery store stocks the glycerin to the back. Too bad i'm a tallow/milled man.

CVS pharmacies carry an EXACT replica of the brush, soap, and bowl sets made by VDH. I'm pretty sure it actually is the VDH set with a different box. I compared the soap ingredients and found them to be the same, soap looks and smells the same sans the VDH stamped in logo that I seem to be seeing on their soap as of late (which didn't used to be there), the bowl is the same color, size, etc., and of course the same brush is included in the kit.
My local WalMart stopped carrying anything other than the soap and when my favorite lather bowl (VDH bowl) broke I was not happy. Just recently found the set at CVS though.

Wise move in not buying that stuff...it sucks. The girlfriend who just uses conditioner to shave her legs most the time even says it sucks and only uses it on her legs when she is almost out of conditioner.

Made it to Walgreens and picked up 2 pucks of VDH deluxe. Paid an extra buck per puck than at wally world, but if Wally doesn't have it, I have no choice. Not trying to sound like a cheap skate, but I'm surprised that Wally world hasn't re-stocked such a good seller as VDH.

My wally only had 3 left, I picked up the one which wasn't in a torn up box. I came home and cut up the new puck along with my spare from the closet and melted them both into a large mug. The heft of 2 pucks melted into a large mug is a very comforting feeling.

My walmart has nothing shave related unless its a cartridge blade, or cream in a can. They used to carry blades and some soaps and brushes but not anymore.

Low and behold I found almost 15 boxs of VDH at wally world. they must have gotten it in since my last visit. I may go back and purchase a puck. Still no blades and very few styptic pens.
