I use Aveeno unscented colloidal oatmeal lotion after a witch hazel/iso blu mix. Followed by the scented lotion or cologne of the day.
You should like the Nivea. I used to use that a lot when I did cartridge shaving, and it works well on razor burn. You'll find that a little bit goes a long way, so one bottle should last quite a while. The main thing with taking up wet shaving is to start slow, and be patient. It takes a while to develop the skill and for your face to adjust. After the first shave, sometimes the results are scary if you get too aggressive, but don't get discouraged. Listen to what your face tells you and keep at it, it will get better. Also, if the balm just doesn't seem to be your cup of tea, then I would say try Witch Hazel next. Some people don't like the smell of the regular kind- personally I don't mind it at all and find that it is gone by the time my face is dry- but as mentioned above, they have unscented varieties too.
