Hey everyone. I'm new to wetshaving. I shaved with an electric for about a year before making the switch a few weeks ago (i'm only 16) right now i have: parker 22r, gillette tech ball-handle, a few types of blades (shark, wal-mart personna, crystal, gillette 7OC, wilkinson sword), a few creams (proraso, park avenue, palmolive lime/regular, williams soap) and one meh gillette synthetic brush. i've had a few decent shaves but always nick myself. anyways, this seems like a great place and i hope to enjoy myself here.
Welcome to The Shave Den, KP. You'll find lots of friendly and helpful folks here so just let us know what we can do to help you. Looks like you've got a pretty good set up to get started.
Welcome to the Shaving Den. Looks like you have a nice starter's kit. My suggestion to you is to concentration on you preshave preparation. Preparation is the key to a quality shave. Make sure your beard is as hydrated and soft as it can be. Be sure you are creating a proper lather. There are threads on this site with visual aids as to how to create a proper lather whether using cream or soap. Lastly, pay close attention to your shaving Technique (angle of your blade to your face). Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. We just love to read about success stories.
Welcome to the Den! Sounds like you've got a good start down the right path. It's good to have you here with us. I'd offer for your consideration this small bit of advice: Go slow and watch/feel what you're doing along the way. I say this because I tend to nick myself when I start thinking too much and stop observing carefully. My neck is most likely to be nicked, but it can happen anywhere if I'm not in the groove. Enjoy your shaves!
Welcome to the Den! You have a lot of good advice, I will add two more things if I may. Listen! Listen to the shave, sound can help you determine if your angle is correct. Watch the pressure! Ideally, you will apply no pressure and the weight of the razor will do the work. The tech is a wonderful razor even if a bit on the mild side. If your prep is good, your angle is good, and you watch it so that you don't apply pressure, you will get better and better shave.
Welcome to The Shave Den! A great community of guys and gals that enjoy wet shaving, I hope you enjoy your stay!
