Greetings, A few years back I had the «pleasure» of cutting in half a kitchen bench made out of oak. It was not hardwood, just a regular dark oak Ikea bench. What I first noticed when sawing this bad boy was the smell. It smelled absolutely wonderful. A dark, sweet buttery kind of wooden smell, with a smokey twist J So my question is this, have anybody had any experience with what I am trying so misreabely to describe? Preferably as a cologne. I was hoping that Sandalwood would come close. But what I have sampled so far, can not compare. Thanks
Sorry, can't help you with what may be out there that may smell close to what you experienced. As for sandalwood, I have several different brands and none of 'em smell the same.
I love the smell of fresh-sawn oak! I remember it from when my bathroom was being remodeled. So I know what you are describing, but do not know of a cologne that smells like it. I don't think it smells anything like sandalwood.
I'm afraid that the closest you are going to get is vanilla bourbon from the TSD Store. Or possibly this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003RY6CDU/?tag=thshde-20 Reading the notes, I would assume this is a light, fresh smelling fragrance. Not exactly what you were looking for.

I've used the spray deo... the scent is nice and doesn't smell super synthetic. And the store usually has some sort of 3 for 2 or 5 for 3 offer going so you can get multiples cheaply, or get the whole line.
Good morning everyone. Thanks for the feedback. I'll guess I have to try the body work cologne. And as always Ebay is my best friend and managed to get me a bottle.
I have, use, and like the B&BW Oak. I wouldn't say it smells like the wood, though. And I agree with Rich in that it doesn't smell overly synthetic.
The Cologne arrived yesterday, and the scent is not quite my cup of tea. It reminds meg too much of the shampoo's I used after gym class in secondary school. Not unpleasant memories, but still not my favourite type scent. Any other suggestions? Lets also include D.R. Harris' Marlborough type scents in my inquery. Love that stuff
I do a bit of greenwood carving like spoons and stuff and I just love the smell of Oak when carving it. Holly, on the other hand, is pretty awful: medicinal, bitter and just not nice. I've done a few demonstrations at rural shows and I remember chatting to an amazing chain saw carver who mostly worked with Cedar. The smell was so good, we asked for some offcuts for the wee portable fire we had going and I even took some home. Hope you find what you're looking for as it is something that would interest me too. P.S. my avatar is an Oak and also my favourite tree - quercus robur.
Found this, described as Oak Moss. Musgo stuff seems very highly thought of, like a lot of Portuguese gear. Will probably need copied and pasted as I can't seem to input links: http://www.labourandwait.co.uk/collections/gifts/products/oak-moss-cologne Here's a better link if you're buying from the US: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Z5Y2IG/?tag=thshde-20 All the best.
