was thinking of growing it some when its cooler and shaving my head when its warmer. Totally a fluke that I shaved it now. Halloween this year just begged for it.
@Bama Samurai the clubman stung some on my neck and barely nibbled at my head. I nicked myself quite a bit on the head around the back near my neck. The proraso red seemed to irritate it. It's rashed up now but only from ear to ear around the base of my head. I'll skip it for awhile and see if it keeps getting rashy. If it stays then Ill remove products until the rash quits.
10/27/15 Gillette NEW LC Vulfix Super Badger (660) Kiss My Face Pomegranate Grapefruit Moisture Shave Cream Georgetown Scuttle G12 Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #2 with the second Gillette Silver Blue in my New LC. Lathered in my Georgetown scuttle. Used plenty of Kiss My Face and added water gradually. Was rewarded with a very thick protective lather. Much thicker than when I faced lathered yesterday. It was strange to see the peaks left on my face when the brush left it. Thin strings, some stretching half an inch. Almost looked like hair covered in lather, but it was all lather. 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Great reduction. Pass 2: ATG. Rinsed and did a minor touch up where I could easily feel stubble. A nice close DFS at that point. A cold water rinse followed by a moderate amount of touch up and I caught the baby. The Aqua Velva was mild today. Another nice BBS from the Gillette Silver Blue in my New LC. Smooth and comfortable. It seemed at times there was no blade in the razor. The Kiss My Face cream fragrance was a little more noticeable today, but still very subtle. It gave good protection and rinses off more quickly than the Proraso cream. Nice to get back to warm lather from my scuttle. Have a terrific Tuesday!
OCtober Focus Day 26: Homemade PS Oil Stirling Synthetic Brush Mitchell's Wool Fat Gillette New LC Stirling Unscented PSB Skin Bracer I had a great shave this morning as it all seemed to come together perfectly. It started with the Wool Fat making that perfect lather. It really just exploded off the brush. Then the New LC and Voskhod made quick work of my stubble. It was effortless and smooth. The Skin Bracer wrapped everything up, and the final result is a great DFS + with no irritation.
10/27/2015 Razor – Wolfman OC with Hempel Ti Blade – Feather (1) Brush – Olivewood with TGN Finest Lather – B&M Latha Post - Witch Hazel & Captain’s Choice Bay Rum A fantastic 3 pass shave this morning. I really focused on my angles as I went and was rewarded with a BBS. At last the Latha is gone. While the soap worked well, I was never a fan of the scent. I might consider purchasing another scent in the Latha line at some point. Finished off with a splash of CC Bay Rum. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Today was the first shave with the last blade of my focus. GSB has always been one of my favorites and still is. I got an excellent shave today. BBS with two passes and some cleanup on the jawline and neck. The blade was smooth and there was no irritation. SOTD Arko AoS Badger EJ DE 89 GSB (1) Have a great day!
Thank you. I really didn't like the scent from the first time I used it. By the end, the thought of using it turned me off but I just powered through it. I guess I really overloaded the brush a lot because I only got 27 shaves and a couple of test lathers out of the puck.

October - Trick or TREET October 27 - The GLADIATOR shave Razor - Rapira Blade - (2) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Proraso Green Tub Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Original Yes, you read it right. A slight change in the program today. Thanks to a certain individual, yes you @Bama Samurai , who mentioned yesterday that 1) my shaves seem to be less entertaining than usual and 2) the Rapira razor would be the final test of a blade, I substituted it in to today's shave. Also because once the idea of trying it with a carbon started bouncing around inside my skull it just wouldn't go away. Also, said @Bama Samurai used Proraso in his shave and it reminded me that I've still got that even though it gets ignored more now in preference of the Fat, Tabac and TSD. Having that cool menthol and eucalyptus might just save this shave from disaster. But wait, my technique is strong enough to overcome the mighty crappy Rapira. Yeah, we can hope right? So, lathering with the big boar today and as always Proraso performs flawlessly. Nice to get that scent again and yes, it feels great and cool on my face. So let's grab the Rapira and get to work. In case you're forgotten what it looks like (and you've probably tried) here it is. Fine Russian engineering in this tin can and plastic razor sort of thing. The blade is aligned with corner tabs that fit into the tabs on the corners of the blade. Sort of. I had it aligned as good as I can get it and the other thing you notice is how little it bends the blade, creating an extra bit of gap that doesn't even look safe. But hey, (fill in the blanks).....what's the _____ that can _____? First pass and yeah, I remember this thing and not totally fondly. Surprisingly it wasn't as bad as the last time though the angle creates an aggressiveness that's really deceiving. Finished the pass and thought to myself, "wow, that Proraso is really starting to tingle nicely". Went second pass XTG and about halfway through realized it wasn't the Proraso tingling..... it was the irritation burning. Ended the second pass with a very high CCS, nearly DFS, and sanity took over. Done for the day. Don't push it. Set the razor down and back away slowly. Well that moment of clarity melted away leaving me to lather again and go ATG. Yes, ATG with the Rapira. To say that it's an experience is to totally understate it. Feel the burn. The only thing left in my normal routine is Gillette Slides on the neck. I looked myself in the eye and said nope, not gonna do it, as I relathered my neck (and noticed the blood on my right jawline near the goatee.....at least I didn't feel that, probably because of the overall burning). Rapira sliding is similar to Gillette sliding with one difference. The level of irritation it raises. My neck finished a nice bright red color. Well, we can call it a dark pink. Just clean healthy skin right? No more blood than the one spot so now I can call it done. Alum time. As bad as I expected. That all over WOW that HURTS burn. Added a nice layer of Nivea to try and return things to cool and normal color. Didn't help a lot but I'm still standing. But now, what to determine about the shave, particularly the blade? Honestly, I think the blade did a fantastic job given the fact it was locked into a horrible razor. Because of that horrid angle the blade is held at it's nearly impossible not to cut yourself. And, it provides a level of aggressiveness that could shave a Russian bear (except the humane society would forbid it as cruelty). I am happy that only one nick/cut appeared because it does tell me I adjusted well to the problems with the razor and overcame them to achieve a DFS in the end. Now, to the aforementioned @Bama Samurai and all the rest................
Soaked the Tabac puck and the Rubberset 400 #3 Omega Boar (early @clint64 restore) while I showered. Tabac Soap has an excellent mellow scent, lathers easily into a thick creamy lather. The lubrication was outstanding. Both razors shaved comfortably with no irritation. The skin care was top notch. Finished today with a coating of Shea Butter and a couple of generous splashes of Tabac After Shave. Ready for an evening out. Hope you are all having a good day my friends.
I was very entertained. I use my Gillette sterling to let the kids shave without a blade. It looks just like your rapira except that it has a smooth topcap. You are much braver then I.
October 27, 2015 World Series - Game 1 Finishing up on OC October. I've introduce myself to four OC razors. Gillette New LC Schick Type C1 Standard Safety Razor Gillette Goodwill Morning shave Hot Shower Soap: Barrister & Mann Diamond Shave Soap Brush: Omega Pro 48 Boar Razor: Gillette Goodwill Blade: 7 o’clock (Blues) (2) TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: Old Spice 1967 Second shave with the Goodwill. The New LC is not only my favorite of these four OC razors, but it may be my favorite razor of all. The two shaves with the Goodwill have been close to the same quality, but not as smooth or automatic. Still an excellent razor thus far. Play Ball! RT
