I have been shaving with a straight for 1 month now (tomorrow is my 1 month) and I went through my shave den and decided to take pictures of all my straights (both shave ready and project razors). These are the Shave Ready razors: and these are the project razors: There is still 1 not pictured (won an eBay auction). That's it, no more for the rest of the year!
Sounds like you RAD is proceeding on schedule. You will find as time progresses you will be more stringent on condition and more specific in your purchases.Once you find out what size ,style and maker you prefer.Welcome to the every expending RAD Club .
I am sure once I have 1 successful, fully restored razor under my belt... I will get into some serious trouble.
Once it really kicks in: you'll start acquiring the really high end custom stuff, like a couple of guys that I won't name. Right @mrchick & @Keithmax ? Even @HolyRollah is slipping into that hole
Straight razor acquisition is just so addictive and you appear to be showing some signs that you could be addicted. I managed to stop after acquiring 16 razors, but only because I'm a part time SR user. If I used an SR every day, fughhedaboudit!
I started 4-5 months ago and have a number of regular straights modern and vintage. That was until this week when I received my first customs..... now I am hooked. I will sell the majority of my regular straights now, keeping the King Cutter and some other stuff and will concentrate on those loveable custom choppers.... I will also keep my more modest DE setup - Feather AS-D2, Merkur Futur and Ikon x3 Slant
Nice collection! I've been wanting a companion for the lone straight I have, but life keeps telling me the time isn't right... I say keep at it! I'm collecting vicariously through you!
Wow would ya look at the willpower on this guy. I had that once for a few months till I got pretty good with a straight. Then the willpower went right out the window never to be seen again.
Don't feel bad, I did an inventory yesterday and I am up to only 36 straight razors...... I haven't made the leap to the customs...... Yet
Just one month? I don't see anything wrong here... Seriously...look at it this way...you are rescuing many SRs that may end up in landfill if they deteriorate. You are preserving pieces of history. And we thank you.
