but I am STILL learning OK. What I know: .........not much , but heres what Ive found works really well for me. Usta be I never rinsed my face between splashes but I kept seeing these old timers saying I was wrong. So I started rinsing in between passes and my shaves improved. Then, a while ago , I saw somewhere, someone mentioned they did a HTT right before their final ( and / or touch - up) and I tried that. Worked great. Now, instead of splashing and rinsing in between passes, I am doing a HTT before each new pass and guess what ?? Shaves have been great and I dont have to mop up the sink so much anymore !! Give it a go, yall !
They're really nice razors. The company used to be Muhle Pinsel, but recently changed names to Muehle. The few that I've seen have excellent build quality. Edited to add this link: http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11151
Not to hijack the thread, but I tried the wwr between passes the last couple days and I think it helps too. I face lather, and that seems to refresh the lather a little bit having the wet face again. Kind of makes sense. Thanks for the pointer "old dog!" Edit: Haven't tried the hot towel. My ADD is too severe to hold it on for long anyway.
Since I shower shave, hot towle is difficult and, I think, unnecessary. I do rinse between passes and let the hot water run over my face for bit. I also like to apply a bit of lather before the main show to get the hairs softened. Sometimes I hand lather right from a tube of, say, Real Shaving Company cream. Sometimes I dip my finger into the bowl hand rub some lather. I also like to apply an "under coat." Right now I use KoS or Men's Stock. I've used Cremo Creme and Trader Joe's Vanilla Mango as well. Whether it's a lathering or non-lathering cream, I just appply is like a lotion and then brush up with my usual lather mix.
It wasn't even mentioned in the thread till you mentioned it. Let me speak slower........ Why...... did........ you......... men tion...... it ?
Thanks for the welcome.................is there some sort of "newbie" contest where I can git me some free goodies? rodd: Thanks for the thread "reroute" ot
Let me bring you back to.... and.... Back on topic, being a face latherer like Rodd, I re-wet my face before lathering the 2nd and 3rd times. I don't necessarily rinse, as in rinsing clean, but just enough water to re-wet.... I don't mess with towels at all, too messy and time consuming for me....but YKHTG...
