I haven't had a whole lot of time these last few days, but I did manage to play with a bit of wood. This stand is made from Olive. Thought I'd use some of the natural edge that was on the piece I picked up Saturday. The slot for the brush is a bit wider on this stand, it will work better for brushes with thicker handles. Anyways......... here's a few pics. Not sure if I really like it, so I'll let everyone here vote yay or nay.
YAY I like it. It does fit in certain decors, which I don't follow very well. Eclectic is what the stand is. I like it LOTS Tom
I love the grain of olive wood. Personally, I'd go for less bark and more grain... course it appears i'm in the minority. :ashamed001 Your craftsmanship looks spectacular.
Thanks everyone. I forgot to say that the rod between the Olive pieces is Ebony. I enjoy turning ebony and I keep the dust. Works great for filling cracks in wood, and being black.... it's easy to hide on a really grained piece of wood.
Ok, I will be posting both stands tomorrow in the Classifieds. The Olive stand had a couple little modifications done to it. The Honey Locust will have a couple pics of it broken down into 2 pieces. Will post as soon as I get home from work about 3PM. Gotta go Oblivion now.....:rofl
Nice stuff, Dennis. The only thing I would have added was a dimple at the bottom of the straight side so the monkey tail wouldn't slip out. Very cool look.
