Has anyone ever purchased this set? If so please let me know what you think of it. I am debating whether or not to purchase it! I will post the link below from amazon so you can take a look at what I am referring to. *http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000JXY8MO/?tag=rm03r5017-20 Cheers! Georgie
I've never used Omega cream, but it is well regarded. The small Omega boars are fine brushes, after a suitable break in. They don't tend to have a lot of capacity, but that is just a function of knot size and loft. I have 4 Omega boars, and find a couple of them very nice. They are generally considered a very good value price vs. performance.
Thanks man. Your input is appreciated. I looked into this brush also: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BWNR9A/?tag=thshde-20. It is also an omega and looks to be a bit more refined then the previous brush I saw. Ever came across this one?
Goodness, yes. The Pro 48! Huge brush. Very popular. I have its slightly smaller cousin, the Pro 49. Very popular brushes. Takes quite a while to break them in. Very big! The 48 has a 70mm loft. The 49 is 65mm. Makes me think, I haven't used mine in a while - maybe I will tomorrow. Some guys like a big brush, some like 'em small. Personal preference only. I don't think I would like the 48 - the 49 is at the limits for me. Here is my favorite Omega - inexpensive, but a real champ once it's broken it. http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/omega-80067.html
I have the omega cream in the tub very good easy to lather, nice cooling menthol. I also have the 49 pro brush ( I'm assuming that's the same one in the picture) and its a great brush once the pig smell goes away. I have 2 omega boar brushes and I also have a handle I reknoted with an omega knot. I use them most of the time.

Yes, that is the Pro 49 that I referenced above. Guys that like a big brush really like it. It is at the size limit for me, at 65mm loft. It really comes down to personal preference though - and the advantage of the Omega brushes is that they are so reasonably priced one can afford to experiment a little! The other brush I referenced in the "shoeboxshaveshop" link is basically a smaller version of this brush, at 60mm loft. Get 2-3 and see what you like! But, you won't know what you like until you have it broken in, and that takes 30+ lathers to accomplish. As you are in your 20's, I guess you have time to sort it out!
I have that one, only in red (red lathers better than white, of course). It is a fantastic brush and WILL buy another should anything happen to this one. By the way, the reason I bought the red one with the black collar reminded me of my first car - a '67 LeMans with a Corvette Red lacquor paint job with a black top (the original vynal was gone), Crager SS mags... *sigh* someday
