I have several Omega boar brushes and like them all. Today, Omega offers the same boar brushes with a synthetic knot. Because the handles are the same and the knot sizes is similar to boar ones, it must be easy to compare them "apple-to-apple". Those of you who have had such an opportunity, how's the comparison? I plan to buy a couple of Omega's s-brushes. Thank you.
I haven't used Omega, but I find I prefer my boar (on an Eveready 100) to the Razorock Plissoft synthetic I gave my wife. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
I have one Omega boar and love it. I also bought an Omega Hi-Brush synthetic. My first and only synthetic so far. I like the boar better but use the synthetic often. the synthetic works better that all but one of my badgers.
This. I've had two omega synthetic brushes and they were no where close to being as nice as other synthetics. I do like Omegas boars and some of their badgers.
Don't waste your money on the Omega S, get yourself one of the new synthetic brushes that are amazing.
What would recommend for a synthetic. The only synthetic brush I used was a 60/70s vintage rubberset with the horrible white knot. It wasn't pleasant but it appears there are much better offerings now. I just don't know the options are.
Stirling, Maggard and RazoRock have nice synthetics for under $20. I have at least two from each of them. I also have 5 Omega, 2 Semogue and one Franks Shaving boar brushes. I am using these boar brushes almost exclusively for the last several real months.
My vote is for synthetic brushes. As mentioned, Razorock, maggard, etc. Are the way to go. Omega synthetic brushes are not bad, but for a few more bucks you can get a much better synthetic brush.
