Open Comb Razor Week starts Monday!​

Just a friendly reminder for all the TSD members that want to participate, the new shave theme week starts Monday September 7th.

This looks like a job for my OC Micromatic and Single Ring.

 

My choice will be limited to the Merkur 25C, because that´s the only Open Comb I have :ashamed001

 

I don´t have open comb razor

 

my only open comb is my Gillette Sheraton...well, I have a couple of open comb heads around, but no complete razors...yet

I'm definitely in for next week!

 

I'm in. Got 2 opencombs now with one on the way (hopefully today). Looking forward to it.

When I first started de shaving, the thought of an open comb razor sent shivers down the old spine. They just looked to aggressive and mean.

I purchased a Tech on e**y and got a New instead. Took me a couple of months to work up the courage to try it but I did and found it to be a wonderful shaver. I use it regularly now.

 

Wish I had a Sheraton. Will have to try one of those someday or an English #15, but am always looking the wrong way when one of those comes up for sale at a decent rate.

You are going to have to put those heads on another razor's handle for the week.

I'm in... but then again, I use OC 90% of the time anyway. Just got a nice new one that I have been wanting for a long time, so I will probably be using a Norfolk most of the week as well as a Gem Deluxe that I recently got and haven't had a chance to use.

 

I'm in too. I've got a 1930's Aristocrat and a Single Ring to use.

Is a standard 1912 Gem Jr. considered an open comb or are you guys talking about the no kidding open comb model? If the standard 1912 and lather catchers ARE considered open comb then, my options just increased a whole bunch.

 

Usually those are called closed comb. There actually are open comb Gem Deluxes out there. rare... but they exist and usually in bad shape. Must have been heavily used!
