I've got my eye on the Semogue 2000, and I'm thinking of getting one for Christmas (if the financial situation allows). Since there are a lot of you with more experience on such subjects I humbly seek your opinions on this brush
I personally do not have a Semogue 2000, my experience with Semogue brush has been positive. I have an Owner Club, 1325 and 1460. The Owner Club is my favorite brush. I have nothing but praise for Semogue brushes.
I have one. Great brush. It's broken in to be a very soft brush. Only problem was that the finish started to crack and peel just under the collar. I sanded it down to bare wood, stained it, slapped on about 6-7 coats of poly and haven't had a problem since.
Yeah, that sums up thoughts on the 2000 as well. It's a great brush. You wouldn't be disappointed if you get one. Also a note on the finish, if I'm recalling this correctly, Semogue changed the varnish they use on their brushes a few years back to eliminate the problems with finish cracking on brushes like the Semogue 2000.
I was looking at prices at the Vintage scent, and they seem to have the cheapest Semogue brushes online...and now I'm in a dilemma. Do I buy the 2000 or do I cash out a bit more and go for the SOC (I love it's looks). Any insight and suggestion would be most welcome.č
I haven't used the 2000. I do own a SOC Boar and can tell you that it's worth every single penny. I love the way it has broken in to be quite soft, has a comfortable handle and while it may be a large bursh it's still very easy to work with.
Well both are great brushes. I have both the 2000 and one of the 2009 Limited Edition Boars, which the SOC brush is based off of. Of the two, I probably grab for the 2009 LE more often, but honestly you can't go wrong with either. Probably not helping really, am I? Heck, get both. Embrace your acquisition disorder!
AAAAHHHH, I find my self face lathering more often lately, and after reading on the 2000 it seems to be a bit of a problem with the size for face lathering. And now I'm thinking of getting an all arounder like the 1305. I really like the natural wood finish and blondes are a bit more attractive But on the plus side the premium 90% tops in the 1305 sounds better than the best 90 in the 1250 or the mix in the 1800. Oh the sweet dilemas of SBAD And alas I think the SOC will be out of the picture since my budget seems to be suffering a bit right now.
It's no problem to face lather with a 2000. It's a great brush. IMO, it outclasses the SOC in both looks and performance.
That is good to hear...because i really like the looks, seems it's settled. 2000 it is. Hope no more dilemmas pop up
I have a Semogue 2000 and I think it is an excellent boar brush. If you check it out at The Vintage Scent, you'll see my review among several.
I've read them all Also I've read about the knot falling out and it shedding excesivly in a few reviews I hope that is just a exception
Haha, you and me both! If something dreadful like that happened, it's a pretty good bet that Bruno will make it right! Congrats on your new brush, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am enjoying mine.
I want to order a Semogue boar brush for soaps and bowl lathering. I'm undecided between Semogue 2000 and 1305 . What should I choose ? Is 2000 better in any way than the 1305 ?
Either one is a fine brush. The 2000 has undyed boar hair and the 1305 has it dyed to resemble badger. The knot on the 2000 is 3 MM bigger than the 1305. The 2000 knot is listed as 25mm and the 1305 as 22 mm. I wouldn't say that one is better than the other and you should choose which one you like best.
