Hi All.
Having been a member of this Forum for a little while now I thought it was about time that I put forward a PIF to try and repay in some small way, the kindness and Camaraderie that all the great folks on this Forum have shown me....
The PIF is open to everyone, and will close on 31st may.

What I like about traditional wetshaving - it lends itself to a mature, contemplative nature. All action, without contemplation, is just sound and fury. All contemplation, without action, is the refuge of the cowardly. But shaving - time to think, while dragging a exquisitely sharp piece of metal across ones jugular... a very good balance, and metaphor for a well conducted life!

 

I'd like to be in this one, too. My favorite thing about wet shaving is that I look better, feel more confident, and am no longer hiding behind a beard.

 

What I like most about shaving is the consciousness it brings me. I've become more aware of personal health and hygiene, exercise, etc.

I'll toss my name in there. I've never tried the Palmolive.

I like the ME time it brings. I like the smells. I like feeling clean and clean shaven. I like smelling good. I like the fact it allows me to slow down and enjoy life, if but for a brief moment. I like that it's "vintage."

 

Back in the old days, about 3-weeks ago, I shaved with Gillette or Edge shaving gel and a Mach 3 razor. I hated it! Everything about the process and every time I had to buy cartridges, it made me hate shaving even more. So, what do I like about shaving now, everything. I like the fact that it is fun to shave again. I love the feel of a shaving brush in my hand; the smell of the wide range of shaving creams available. I love the sound of the razor cutting my whiskers; forcing me to slow down and consider each as a precious gift from God.


Please include me in this PIF...

My favorite thing about shaving is the chance to be alone with my thoughts as I do something for myself. It's like a daily reboot.

 

Thanks for the giveaway, please count me in. I am new to straight razors and I just love the feeling of youth/rejuvenation after a good wet shave. I am now getting older (late 20's) and am beginning to truly appreciate the cleaner sophisticated look. Never tried palmolive stick but hear great things on all the big forums.

 

Great pif, please do NOT count me in as I have a nice hoard of this awesome soap already! What I love most about shaving is the connection I feel to the past. I love knowing that I'm using a device that was constructed in 1949 (in the case of my Superspeed) and it still works perfectly.

I also love interacting with the TSD community. Some of the most helpful and generous folks on the planet!

My favorite thing is that I no longer have to worry about my stubble getting jammed in an electric razor. Trust me, it hurts.

What I like most is the part when my 4 years old boy comes to sit with me in the bathroom and watch my shaving ritual, just like me when I was his age. I know he will remember those moments just like I remember watching my dad shaving.

 

I enjoy shaving because it slows me down and allows me to steal some time back from this crazy world. It is the most relaxing thing that I do.

I'm with 5Savages on this one- My favorite thing about shaving is that it is time to myself where I can let my mind wander, or concentrate deeply on what I'm doing. I am free, for those 15-20 minutes, ro just be in my own little world mentally. And, the entire time, I'm pampering myself in a manly way! I get to choose the scents and menthol level that suit my mood that day, but I'm still slicing through hair with a deadly razor-sharp blade so it isn't girly at all! LMAO!!!

The thing I like most about wet shving is the fact that it links me back to a different time when things were a bit slower and you took the time to do a job right. Oh and trying as much different stuff as I can.
