    Hi,
I am of Asian decent so have patchy facial hair - hair grows thick on the 'whiskers' area and parts of the chin.

the chin shaves closely so there is no stubble or shadow, but the whiskers area (above the corners of my lips, always have a shadow, unless i let the hair grow for a few days then use the electric rotary shaver,
    - wet shaving doesnt seem to cut as close and still leaves a noticeable shadow
because my facial hair is fairly thin this cuts cleanly - no shadow, its just the whiskers area which shows stubble
this is very annoying as i have a shadow just on the whiskers area, which looks stupid, as you can imagine.

so i was wondering if there is a way to remove this shadow that remains around the whiskers area?
or is my only option to let it grow for a few days so the shaver cuts closer/cleaner - but it still leaves faint shadow there

    - i have tried wet shaving in an upwards direction but this cuts too much and doesnt cut any closer as there are still black dots where the hair was cut

    thank you

One thing that you might try is to stretch the skin in that area when you shave. Some say to use your fingers and pull the skin in those areas but ... I use an easier way to stretch in those spots. Air... Just blow up your cheeks in the areas that your shaving . Easy to do in the areas that your concerned with.

I might provide a suggestion that for some may borderline on heresy on a wet shaving forum.

    Try a combo approach.

First shave your entire face with the electric rotary shaver.
Then shower (or use warm towels) to hydrate your skin.
After that wet shave. This may provide you with a wet shave that can get as close as possible on the first pass.
I would also try when performing the wet shave, the items that Johnus has recommended earlier to help get to the trouble spots easier.

Remember, no two faces or skin types are the same. The object is to get as good a shave as possible without having too many cuts, nicks or weepers.

Good fortune on your shave and with that I wish to provide you a...

    thanks guys for the advice

ivebeen following the advice for the last few days, shaving 2 passes downwards , 2 upwards, 2 sideways.
i started with one pass each way,
so about 2 hours ago had a wet shave as i didnt shave yesterday - again my facial har gets thicker near the whiskers area,

here is a photo i just took, you can still see slight shadow near the 'whiskers' area,

From the looks of it, you just have very dark hair. Short of having it permanently removed, the only other thing I can think of is cover-up makeup. Sorry.
