Greetings from Oklahoma!! Hey All, Where do I look to order a personalized shaving mug? I have seen several antique mugs with the original owners name on them, and I want one with my name on it. Or...I'd like to at least pick out the picture on the mug...tractor, cigar, horse, gun.....etc. Thanks!! Cohiba **P.S. Love this website!!
First, welcome to the Den! The only one I have found is from Classic Shaving. Can only get your monogram, though, as far as I know. I have one and really like it. Had it personalized with my initials. You can see it in the second photo here.
Welcome to The Shave Den Cohiba! A great community of guys and gals that enjoy wet shaving, I hope you enjoy your stay! While its not required, how about you hop over to the Newbies Section and give yourself a proper introduction thread, I'm sure you'll receive many warm welcomes from the friendly folks of this community.
Check around for a local potter. I always prefer hand crafted individual pieces. I'm sure you could have a personalized mug made to your specifications for a reasonable price.
Regarding the old mugs on ebay, you bought the mug and ordered your name and art work on it from your barber. The big barber suppliers all had art and painting departments where each mug was hand painted then fired in the kiln. I think you would, as members have pointed out, have to have a individual mug made by a local potter as this is not commerically done anymore.
There is a small art gallery close to my house here in Fort Worth, TX that has a really good pottery guy. I have talked to him in the last couple of months and know that he is delving into making scuttles and brush handles. I don't think he has any shaving stuff on the website yet, but I'm sure if you emailed him he would work something out with you. Not a great lead but I hope that helps some. If I have done this correctly you should find the website here. http://www.firehousegalleryfw.com/Firehouse_Art_studio_and_Gallery/Welcome.html[/URL]
