I have a bottle of the citrus musk and I like it very much. I was wondering how close the smell of the Lime sec is to the Citrus Musk? I'm wondering if I should pick up a bottle. Also, I was on the Pinaud website and I noticed in the aftershave section, Clubman Musk. I don't recall anyone talking about this one. Anyone try it?
Citrus Musk is one of my favorites in the hot summer months. It however is much different than the Lime Sec. Lime Sec reminds me of lime rock candy.
I've never heard of the citrus musk, I've got the P.C. musk aftershave cologne..... Never heard of this lime stuff either, is it any good?
Oh the Citrus Musk is an absolute must have I.M.O. Has a strong sweet lime scent during the splash-on. It then dries down to a light lime/citrus with a touch of spice/musk. To paraphrase DLreno, it is a perfectly fresh summer time scent. Only down fall is it has pretty much no moisturizing capacity.
I don't know of anywhere around me that has anything but the regular Clubman, so I got mine through Amazon.
I have Lime Sec, Citrus Musk and regular Musk. It's been awhile since using them however so my memory and reviews are faded. Give me a week or so and I'll get back to this thread w/ some opinions. I will say that the Pinaud Musk is strong but a decent AS (if memory serves). To be continued...
Really like the Citrus Musk. Really do not like the Lime Sec. The latter smells like a cross between lime candy and a cleaning product to me.
Over the past couple days as promised I used these AS's, and here's my impressions. You've already used Citrus Musk so I won't go into it much other than to say I really like this one. It's an explosion of full on citrus. Lime, orange, lemon all rolled into one. Fresh, outdoorsy, summery. It's marketed as an EDT so if you want moisturizing properties there are better out there. Lime Sec: Indeed it goes on strong and has a very powerful sweet lime, hard candy odor to it. Initially you might not like it. However after some time it does settle into a more subdued lime. Perhaps like a bottle of lime juice. A little less sweet and more natural fragrance sets in after a 1/2 hour or so. It seemed to moisturize after the shave ok even though it too is an EDT. If you have no other lime AS's and want one this will surely do the trick. It's no better than Stephan Island Lime and Royall Lyme is better but much more expensive. There is enough difference between this and Citrus Musk that if you wanted both you could, though it's probably not necessary as you've already got the citrus covered. Pinaud Musk: A strong and almost overpowering initial effect. It is very much like Clubman but deeper and richer. Clubman on steroids I'd call it. I really don't get much of a musk odor honestly, but I'm sure there is a musk FO or EO in it to justify the name. It settles after some time to be less overpowering and a bit more powdery. The unique Pinaud fragrance is always there though. If you've got Clubman you don't need this, and in fact Clubman is better because while strong the musk is stronger and just too overbearing. If you do use this a 1/2 splash is plenty. My wife is not a fan. If you're looking to expand your Pinaud line try the Vanilla. I've seen some guys bash it, but I think it's ok for the price. More subdued and sweeter. All these and more can be purchased at Appleton Barber Supply for reasonable prices and shipping.
Thanks Shep, that helps a lot. I think I will pass on the Lime Sec and Musk for now being as I already have the Citrus Musk and Original. I also have the Vanilla, which I like very much.
