I would like to try Caties bubbles and Truefitt and hill, but I'm in a no buy so it could be a while before I try them.

I ordered a stick of Arko yesterday. Will be the first time for that soap. Actually first time for a "stick" as well.

Martin de Candre is another. I've heard near unanimous praise regarding this line.

This is exactly why I put mdc in our passaround... Everyone should try it. It's funny that every single person since has said they want to keep it (though I asked for it to remain in the box so all could try it)

Samples are a great way to try many soaps without buying a whole tub. This way you can see what works best for you. So many great artisans out there. I think I have tried enough brands and have found which ones work best.

I've been hearing a lot about Viking Soaps lately. Might have to add them to the list to try as well.

I have yet to try a few that I already own. Not sure why, but I tend to go back to a few of the ones that have worked for me and I already like.

I like to use shave products that are readily available, effective, and cheap.

Maybe it's because I got into this as a hobby to save money. Maybe it's because I am not adventurous or less imaginative than the average shaver.

Paying shipping on a $1-$10 bar of soap just seems wrong when I can find something comparable locally.
And paying more than $10 for a bar of soap just seems extravagant to me.
I may be missing out, but I'll never really know.

Wow! Just read what I wrote - from way too early in the morning.
Talk about a downer Debbie (or Dave in any case).

    LET ME CLARIFY.
I applaud all of the inventive and unique vendors in the shaving industry.
And I recommend that you all try all of the premium and artisan products that your budget & conscience allow.
I myself would love to have a closet full of the top line products.
And I would never turn down a gift of such products from anyone.

Guess I'm just too cheap to spend the money on myself.

Here's my list (the ones that I have not and may never try - but would love to:
    Art of Shaving Lemon
    Art of Shaving Sandalwood
    Penhaligon's English Fern Shaving Soap
    Trumper's Oxford Blue Shaving Soap
    Tabac Original Shaving Soap
New York Shaving Company Old St. Patrick's Shaving Soap
Portland General Store Whiskey Old-Fashioned Wet Shave Soap
    DR Harris
    Stirling Soaps
    Mama Bear
    Martin de Candre
    Barrister and Mann

Haslinger is also one I'd like to try one day. I keep hearing amazing things about that soap.

Maybe you would be able to answer a question about MdC that has me puzzled. I looked on their website and found they seem to sell either 3 or 4 types of shave soap right now: Unscented, Fougere, Scented - which is scented with lavender, rosemary and mint, and the wood bowls full of something called "Original". Would the stuff in the wood bowls be the same as the tubs of Scented or is it something else again?

The original is the same as the scented. The predominant scent being Lavender.

    Necropost!

I opened a puck of Haslinger that I believe I received from Kerry @RaZorBurn123 sometime last year. Let me tell you what, the soap made a very easy dense lather and the shave was outstanding.

I used Williams for years prior to slipping down the rabbit hole of online shaving supply vendors some time ago. I've had great results with Proraso soaps and creams and pretty much stick to them. I do have a weakness for trying out soaps from Italian Barber as they never disappoint.

Off the top of my head, I've not tried the following.

    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Barrister & Mann
    Captain's Choice
    Cella

I'll probably give Cella a go next order.

It may or may not be "popular", but I'd like to try Texas Leather from The Soap Exchange.

From a previous post I said I had not tried:

    Mike's
    Reef Point
    WSP
    Martin de Candre

I've tried Mike's now as well as Reef Point. I own a tub of each brand. They're each great soap.

    Still haven't tried:

    WSP
    Catie's Bubbles
    Martin de Candre
