Has anyone tried these new Tallow soaps? If so, how do they rate against other tallowy wonder soaps like tabac?

I was tempted to ordering some and try. The soap puck is priced well, but the shipping is a killer to just get a puck of soap to try. I have too many soaps as it is.

    shipping options

Not trying to enable anyone, but after Justin's comment I checked her shipping rates, and it's a flat 10 dollars, which is silly for a single puck of soap, but it also says the following

"If you suspect your shipping will be significantly less than the flat rate please contact me prior to making your payment. I will manually check it and send a new invoice for payment to reflect the correct shipping rate. If you are paying with paypal please let me know your paypal email address so you get the invoice. I do this because I don't think people should over pay for shipping and some of my items are small and can be shipped first class. "

ahh... I didn't see that line. I read the one about local pickup... but she isn't local by any stretch to where I am.

I still don't need anymore soap.

I've ordered a couple pucks. Due to her response times, she must be swamped, which is a good thing.

    Tallow Soaps

I have tried Krissy's Tallow soap. I liked it. It was the last test puck before the new improved that she said blew what I tried away. I have mine on the way. Can't wait. I also recieved a list of her newest scents.
    Spiced Rum
Set sail with Captain Morgan! The island liquor with tropical spices, a melodious blend of potent rum with sweet spices.

    Lime
Sharp, citrusy green. The perfect skin cooler on a hot summer’s day!

    Tobacco
A mellow, woodsy scent like fine pipe tobacco or just cut tobacco leaves, with just a whiff of cherry wood what you find in a gentleman's library.

    Egyptian Sandalwood
Warm and mysterious with an oriental woodsy appeal and slight musk notes.

    Teak & Sandalwood
Exotic blend of soft, somewhat sweet sandalwood and aromatic, pleasant teak.

    Sound good to me.

    *Waves To Everyone*

Hi I'm krissy owner of Prairie Creations,

Yes I have come up with a tallow shaving soap that works like some of the well known shaving soaps.

I'd like to clear some things up, about the shipping on my website.

Because shipping is so difficult with small orders to large orders I have my flat rate shipping set at 9.95 but that also includes insurance on your package, shipped priority mail, via USPS. And if your order requires the use of a flat rate box, that is still less than what the post office charges which is $10.35 plus an additional 1.75 on top of that to insure your package.

BUT because I know that is way out of line for those who want to buy just one or two small items I do NOT require buyers to pay that. Because I don't want people to over pay for shipping, it's not something I profit on.

So I do have it written that I do refunds if the buyer pays that and their shipping is lower. OR they can request a new invoice be sent to them.

If they pay by paypal then I do require the package be insured at the added cost of $1.75 (added into the cost of shipping). I do this because of the rules that paypal has regarding how the package is handled and if there is insurance or not if the package is damaged or lost in transit. But if you want to skip paying the insurance your more than welcome to mail your payment to me.

I figure my shipping by the actual cost of shipping, I add 1.75 for insurance (if applicable) and only IF the package is being mailed first class I add .99 cents to cover packaging. I don't do that with priority mail packages because I'm using their free supplies/boxes.

One thing I am working on at the moment is adding in some shipping options that can be added into the cart. Then once you go through the checkout you chose the local, because that won't add any additional shipping.

But in this shipping option which is the first category it will give very specific items and sizes that can fit into certain packages. (the small boxes that I have, small flat rate priority boxes, or a bubble manilla envelope) And I will add to that list as needed with different combination's as they come up. Also included in that list will be options for those that prefer to avoid the added insurance for their order.

The small flat rate boxes are nice, but your also limited to what can be put into them because they are only 1 1/2" deep.

The reason why I have decided to go with a flat rate ship is because even on a two pound package there can be a difference of up to about 4 dollars depending on what zone the buyer is in.

If I entered weights for each items, I would be including the weight of all the packaging material. Which works out perfectly if someone is just buying one item. But what if they are ordering 3 or 4 or 5 or more items. Then they have the added extra packing material added in which only increases the cost that is shown because it's making the package heavier than it needs to be. And that isn't so good either. Plus it only takes a package over 2 lbs and 1 ounce to make it cheaper to use the medium flat rate box.

And with so many variables, it's simply easier to set up a flat rate ship, and offer reduced shipping that is more accurate for smaller orders.

I hope that clears things up so your not afraid to order thinking you will be overcharged on shipping.

You'd be surprised how well it actually works. And if it overcharges on shipping, you just refund the extra. That's what I do.

I don't know which shop cart you use, but USPS has a module that you can add on to calculate shipping.

I ordered the Teak & Sandalwood, Lime and Essential oil Blend.
I am anxiously awaiting their arrival.

I was wondering if you are using them with hard or soft water.

Are they hard or soft water sensitive?

Also what brushes that are being used with them?

    Thank You
    Phil

sol92258 I have no earthly idea

remembering this thread from awhile back, figure I'll bump it since YES I have had a chance to try Krissy's soaps, thanks to her very generous PIF.

I wrote a review in the review section, but I will say it was easier to lather than Tabac, and performs just as well.
Would definitely recommend a boar or stiff badger brush for easiest results

great soap, definitely worth a try
