I have tried a couple and they don't seem to work much. I saw a video from mantic and he said he used hair conditioner. What do you guys think?
About 90% of people don't find they help. Personally, I will only use one if I'm in a hurry as preshave oil preps my beard in about 30 seconds instead of 3 minutes with water.
Im my goal to getting the best possible shave and trying out every imaginable pre shave out there I find that they do work but the effect is subtle. I don't think they are worth the 20 dollars or they command. A good thing to try is getting some Shave Secret at WalMart for 5 bucks and see if it helps you. I like using plain glycerin sometimes and that stuff is like 2 dollars for a big bottle. The Proraso Pre/Post is good too because I find that it is a very effective after shave for razor burn. None of the "brand" name oils out there are worth the price YMMV Some people experience making their own cocktails since the ing. are usually the same in most brands. However, if you don't have them laying around you are going to end up spending more than just buying a bottle
I have a bottle of King of Shaves menthol oil that I use occasionally. I don't know if it helps or not. I've read that some people only use shave oil to shave with. This stuff would definately not work for that. I tried it once and it was like trying to shave with honey. Some people swear by it but I haven't found any real noticeable difference.
I have a bottle of Shave Secret--I like it. It seems to add a little lubrication into the mix. But then again, I might just be enamored with the clove scent/sensation.
I don't think that pre-shave oil is worth the premium some are asking. I only use it when my skin is feeling dry. Gives a bit more elasticity to the skin.
No. No they are not. Spend a little more time rubbing in some pre-lather with your fingers and let it sit on your beard while you finish whipping up the rest of your gooeyness. Save your hard -earned dough
