Picked this one up from Gio, and while it's effective as part of a good pre-shave routine, I just don't get that cooling blast that I do from Proraso Pre-Post. It looks and acts just like Proraso Pre-Post as far as efficacy on the beard area, but for me I just need that extra "oomph" of additional Menthol. :D

This is indeed a pre/post, much like Proraso pre/post can be used before/after a shave.

But I think they are very different:
    • The "Prep" has no added scent, as far as I can tell. I only smell the contained ingredients, but no fragrance. Proraso, however, has that familiar minty/eucalyptus/camphor medicinal but fresh scent.
    • The "Prep" has much less menthol
    • The "Prep" has less ingredients, fewer parabens
    • The "Prep" contains mineral oil, which I find gives more protection from blade than Proraso......which does not contain oil
    • The "Prep" is thicker (though it does soak in just as well)
One last thing, This does work well on insect bites. ;) I administered some to my girlfriend. Bug bite was all but gone the next morning.

    The jury is out

I am sorry, but this product will never replace a pre-shave oil in my routine. I have just shaved using this and I don't think it made any difference or improvement, however the lack of oil I believe was a detriment. I will try it again under different conditions, i.e. creams, soaps , blades, razors etc.

I like Prep much more than Proraso. I find it does have a strong menthol smell to it when in the jar but as soon as it is on your face there is no menthol. I find it extremely good. Picked up a jar today from Venice for €2.50.

So far, this beats any pre/post cream I have used. It beats lotions and emulsions too. Unless you hadn't noticed it's won me over.

Great stuff. I'll be getting a few more when I next pass through Italy.

I have found a link to a pic but was not able to upload it so here is the link. I am not sure if this is allowed though. In any case I got it for about $8 cheaper. In Borat's words: 'Great success!'

so the past few months i have been using the old formula white label prorasso preshave cream....its nice.
i decided to change things up and bought a few different preshave creams to use throughout the year and yesterday i used 3P preshave and today i used Prep preshave.

3p is a creamy texture like a cream....the prep and proraso had similar texture where its a harder cream.
all acted nicely as a preshave and the 3p came in a plastic jar which might be good to keep in the shower for when i shave my head.
overall, i still like proraso best and 3p the least (due to scent).

i still have Vitos to try out and the green label proraso.

Having used a few proraso pre shave jars, I plumbed for a whopping 500g tub of the Prep pre shave at almost half the price of a proraso (per 100g). Yes, it has less menthol but the cooling effect is still noticeable, albeit not that strong. And it does a spiffing job at lubrication and protection. For what it's worth, the prep shaving cram is excellent, too. Softens the stubble very well.
