Hello all shave masters! I need help identifying this razor. I am in love with it. My husband's grandfather was a barber during WWII. When he passed away he left me his tools. We recently found this razor and some lovely hand clippers, along with a very old and still very operational set of Wahl electric clippers. But my real interest is the Razor. I have Googled hunting for more information about the make and model. Can someone help me? Also can anyone give me a ballpark idea of the cost to restore a razor in this condition? Many thanks! Have a wonderful evening! Pictures attached.
Yes, but what steps should I take to have it restored and do you know anything about this particular model. I have googled and googled and can't find anything. Except one on Ebay that has "Coot" scratched into the handle.
One that sold on ebay, in better shape. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pearlduck-...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 ..
Thank you so much! Oh well, I'm not planning on selling. Too much sentimental value. I would however like to use it.
That's what we like to hear! The cost of restoring it is why many folks learn to restore them. Fortunately the two referrals in previous posts are TSD Members in good standing with a long history of making shavers happy. Should you choose one of them, your razor should be returned to you shiny and sharp. Then we can answer your questions about how to shave!
That is a RARE DD with the "France" stamp I have probably restored 500 DD's over the last 12 years and have only touched 2 of those It is also an Heirloom so it is very RARE, I would love to have an heirloom razor NICE !!!!!
Thats one Rare Bird .Another recommendation for Glenn or Kevin for a proper restore .You will not be disappointed with their work .
@HolyRollah , Kevin, did my H. Böker. You can read all about it here: http://jrshaving.blogspot.com/2017/02/boker-restore.html
Still a nice razor, Jim! After reading my comments in your link above, it’s apparent I need to do a better job proofing (and spell-check!) before blathering on & on...
