Pre: Decent, but I have to use a LOT of it to work properly. Post: Nice. I really enjoy the scent, and the cooling effect. The contained menthol and eucalyptus do a real nice job soothing and healing the skin. Great aftershave moisturizer, though admittedly I don't use it very often.
I use it as preshave and as after shave. I do it more for the cooling sensation than for shaving improvement. First time I used it as preshave i thought it would be kind of a narcotic because I didn't feel the blade as usual. It works good for me as a preshave, As an after shave it's quite ok but, for me, besides the cooling nothing really special. I gave the price a 10 because I bought it in Italy where it is really cheap.
Pre: I like this as a pre-shave.. I feel it helps protect the skin a bit and it makes the shaves kinda better.. sort of.. And I do really enjoy the super-cooling effects.. Post:Good feel as long as the menthol is there.. but it leaves a sticky feel to the skin which I dont like at all.. Hence the low Grease rating..
Use it every shave This stuff works wonders for my shave. As part of a pre-shave prep routine, it helps my shaves turn out closer, more comfortable and with less irritation. The consistency, for me, is a bit thick -- I apply it at the beginning of my morning shower and let the steam from the shower combine with the pre-post cream to work the magic. Then I rinse off just before getting out of the shower, lather up, and enjoy an irritation-free shave.
Lovely pre/aftershave cream This is the classic but I only discovered it about a month ago. I use Proraso for a close and comfortable shave. The scent is outstanding, and when used in conjunction with Proraso shavingcream, or other mentholated soaps and creams, it enhances the cooling factor. Eukalyptus and menthol is a match made in heaven! When used as an aftershave cream it has a soothing effect that lasts. I use it generously and rub my arms with the excess, where it is cooling and has a good moisturizing effect on "dry winter skin". I'll buy an industrial size tub next time!
I used to use this all the time in my Pre-shave routine...I find I hardly ever use it any more, it seemed like it would really funk up my brushes when using as a Preshave and they would get kind of a nasty residue in them... I also noticed that this stuff really gets the sink dirty fast and leaves a nasty film in the sink.... I do like the menthol kick and the Proraso scent...I will probably continue using it...
Working well so far... for the 2 weeks I've used it. Rub it into my wet face after a nice hot shower, wait about 2 minutes, meanwhile applying deodorant, a little hair tonic to my pompadour, and lather up what's in the rotation. The only time I don't use it is when I use Nancy Boy's Signature Cream, I prep with Nancy's Pre Shave Oil.
I really enjoy using it as a preshave. I notice less irritation now that I use this product. The menthol is great for these hot & humid days in New York City.
I use this all the time regradless of which ever cream I use, it's fantastic and I recommend it highly to anyone, it does an excellent job
Proraso is my favorite pre-shave product. I use this wonderfully soothing and tingling preparation both in conjunction with Proraso soap and lotion aftershave, as well as with other lathering and aftershave products. It is simply, in my experience, an exquisite shave enhancer. I use a small amount, after showering, and apply the substance by rubbing with moderate pressure on my beard for about thirty seconds. I believe that this pre-shave balm facilitates the lathering process with soaps and creams. As I am not knowledgeable about ingredients I cannot comment about the efficacy of Proraso pre-shave from a technical point of view. Subjectively, Its' use provides confidence in the preparation of my face in the shave to come. I have never used this as an after shave, simply, because I use the Proraso lotion for that purpose. I am most pleased that others find this product to be equally helpful in providing excellent shaves. John
What a scent! You need to be brave to use this on a winters morning. Works very well as a pre shave treatment or post shave soothing balm. Shaving would not be the same without it.
I love this stuff I only use as a pre shave because I don't care for the menthol in an aftershave. As a preshave the Proraso is magic. I put in on when I step out of the shower and leave it while I prepare my lather. The sensation is extremely peasant. My shaves seem smoother and easier to get close when I use the proraso. The lather seems to sit better on my face. I don't know if that makes sense but it's the only way I can describe it. I don't use this every day but save it for those days when I can take my time and really enjoy a shave. Of all the products I've tried since I started wet shaving this is the one that made me say "wow".
Great cooling, yes. However, a lot of irritation for me as well, and not very comfortable during, or even after a shave. I also hate the scent. So, I wouldn't buy it again, although the price is very reasonable.
You have to use a lot of it but I do like the scent and the extreme freeze effect. The scent does not last longer than half an hour. I find it good and at €1.50 for 100g in Italy it doesn't hurt the pocket at all. I am going to keep using it. Proraso seems to have won me over both for soap and post-shave. I don't use pre-shave.
