This is only my first time using the soap, I hope you enjoy the review. This is for you Jeff, thanks for convincing me to buy it! Price: 8. I bought it from Razor Blades and More for $10.00 + shipping. Scent: 9. Right when I opened it up, I was hit with a fresh, invigorating, somewhat cooling scent. I enjoyed it very much. Quality: 10. Proraso has such a good reputation for a reason. They have this shave stuff mastered. It is like a hard soap, but still soft at the same time. Lather: 10. My new silver tip brush was oozing poofy, slick lather after about 45 seconds. Efficacy: 9. This is only my first use, but it was very user friendly and I should be able to mark this a 10 in the future. Moisturizing: 9. It might be too early to tell, but this soap made my face feel great. It made my face feel smooth, there was no new irritation from it, and it was good buffer for my face. Will I buy this again: Heck yes I will! If you are a just easing into menthol like me, then this stuff is perfect for you. It's also easy to figure out how to use, as far as adding water and whatnot. I was kind of Proraso shy, because of the old formulation Proraso green tube. It really made my face break out, so I put off buying the Proraso white thinking the same thing would happen.
Ah I love Proraso white even though I rarely use it anymore. If you're starting to like this one, you should definitely try Palmolive Menthol. Bigger kick of cold but a lovely scent that isn't eucalyptus filled like the Proraso Green.
I might be feeling ballsy enough to try it after I get rid of a few other creams/soaps/razors. I always wanted to try it, but don't want to be irritated by the menthol since Proraso Green (old) didn't work out for me.
Nice review! I'm a newbie to the DE/Wet shave and I'll add my 2 cents...Demographics: 38 years old and and equal number of shaves on the new equipment. Since 15 years old, I've had 2 hair cuts by someone other than myself and never been shaved by someone else--it's a long story but that's how I roll... I thought I was doing well with the Kiss-my-face cream but I decided to get a DE razor and the Proraso green soap as a starter. I am really used to the "mint" experience. I use Dr. Brommer's peppermint soap for everything in the shower--except shaving. I must not have sensitive skin (though I used to get razor bumps frequently) as I rather enjoy rinsing with ice cold water and the eucalyptus tingle of the Proraso aftershave as well. I can grow some decent foliage if I were to let it got, but I wouldn't say I have a dense or coarse beard--typical white-guy beard I guess. I'm surprised I don't see it in more reviews but, so far without trying so of the other top rated options, I really like it and my face looks and feels great. I've got a few more options on the way... As much as I like the "mint" world and it's refreshing powers, I also like the smoky, spicy, and classic aromas. I've got a Tabac Original set on order as well a Art of Shaving Sandalwood set coming. My everyday cologne is Ralph Lauren's Double Black which is earthy, spicy, and tobacco-y aroma. Hopefully, these two new fragrances will compliment that but I'll definitely keep the Proraso around when I want that uber-fresh neutral kick.
I used my White tub this morning and figured this deserved a "bump". I guess I should stop being amazed at how easily it produces a great mentholated lather. My skin feels great.
I was actually going to revive this thread! Glad you did! I started with proraso white and after my 30 days, I moved on to many fantastic RR croaps. I decided to break it out as I had never used my new brush on it (WD Silvertip). What fantastic lather and a great set of shaves this week!
Great soap. I finished up a tub not that long ago. I will definitely get more when i go through a few more soaps. I need to make room. Not to change the topic, but I was wondering if Ryan, or anyone else tried and reviewed the new Proraso Blue? does it come in a tub also, or just the cream?
