I'm pretty new to traditional shaving as I'm only three shaves into using a safety razor. I can't say this with complete certainty, but I think what helped my shave for the first time with a safety razor was a few products from Prospector Co. I use their "Miss Annie Jones Shaving Oil" as a pre-shave and their "Brummell Shave Cream" with a badger hair brush. I really like their stuff. Has anyone else ever used their products and if so with positive results?
While I've never used "Miss Annie Jones Shaving Oil" and I don't doubt one bit that it works for you, for $22 you may just want to consider trying some "Corn Huskers Lotion" available locally for around $4. It works as well for me as either Proraso or Jack Black pre shave and it's a TON cheaper.
