I bought a Razorock alum block the other day and have used it a few times. I was just wondering if it was customary to leave it on the skin or rinse it off after a few minutes. I found out the hard way not to get it on my lips because I licked my lips later and got a taste of the alum! Can we say pucker factor!
You can leave it on. It's up to you whether you do or not. If you do leave it on, depending on how much you use, you might get flakes of salt left on your skin.
I rinse off after 2-3 minutes (while I clean my brush & bowl) it will leave your skin silky smooth. Feels great! I then apply AS balm and then AS splash.
I have oily skin. I leave it on after using on my whole face. After it somewhat dries down I use witch hazel. After that dries down I use a balm or Shea butter lotion on my cheeks, neck and chin. Whatever residue from that is left on my hands (usually very little) goes to my oily troublesome areas, i.e., forehead eyes and nose. Without some moisture, my skin works overtime and becomes too oily once again. After doing this for months the shine and oiliness has become manageable. YMMV. ... To be continued... Don
I just rinse it and put it back in the box. It's a crystal and pretty much like the decorative agate paperweight that your Aunt Enid brought back from Flagstaff.
I use the alum block on my face, clean up my razor, brush and bowl, then rinse my face with cold water and apply my AS. If I leave the alum on my face it feels dry and uncomfortable. As for the block I set it in its plastic container sideways, so it doesn't lay flat, and let it air dry.
