I picked this up recently; it was black with tarnish. There are absolutely no markings on the razor or box. No serial #, no manufacturer, nothing. Any ideas? The razor and the box are silver plated. Sorry for the bad pics. Thanks.

looks like a gillette old type clone. the grip knurling on an actual old type runs further up and down the barrel and its blade holders arent that big and have caps on the heads.

To back up Dave's clone theory, here is a 1919 Old type on the left, and a similar Merkur set on the right. Your razor appears to have some elements of each, but is not an exact copy of either.

Still pretty cool looking, though. :)

Thanks guys. I've got a couple of Old types, so i knew it wasn't one of those. Didn't really have a clue; but for $3.00, it turned out o.k. I had no idea they were making clones back then.

The clone could have easily come from the 40's or even later.

I guess so, considering I once saw a Slim at an antique store that was missing the silo doors and the seller wanted $5 for it! :happy102
