Could not find in search so may i ask: What is the difference between Feather Black and Yellow Pkg Blades? Thx Much......And noted i sure enjoy the forms!
Hi! Welcome to the Den. Sorry, can't help you with your question. I'm not a big fan of Feathers. No doubt many who are will be along soon. Until then, go grab a cup of coffee, sit back, relax, and click this.
I've used both the yellows and the blacks and never noticed a difference between the blades. From what I have read, it is just the number of blades per package. The yellows come 10 to a pack while the blacks are 5 to a pack.
Dale is correct. Now some of the vendors are selling 5 packs in a different package. This is the first I have seen of this package.
Man, I hate that. Seems all my favorite blades have enough wax on them to start a museum. Some of the wax dots go all the way the the ver edge of the blade. What's the purpose of the wax dots, Jody?
It is a secret plot of the blade manufacturers in conjunction with the reverse vampires as funded by the saucer people to keep the blade centered in the packaging to avoid edge damage. We are behind the looking glass people.
AFAIK the only purpose of the wax is to hold the wrapper on the blade. The worst I've seen lately have been Lord Platinums and feathers. Could make a candle with the blade wrapper. The best have been Bolzano (None at all), Astras (Very little at all), and Sharks (Very small dots as well). Rapiras are inconsistent - some have giant gobs, and others have none at all...crapshoot with every blade lol.
After all, it was a Japanese fellow that coined the phrase "wax on/wax off". My Gillette 7 O'Clock Blues don't use much wax at all.
I think the sharper blades have more wax as the blade is more dangerous. I take it to mean that the more wax, the sharper that blade is. So all of you shaving with a blade that has no wax holding it to the paper then you are free to sling that blade around as there is no chance it will cut you.
Those are the single edged blades for the Feather SE they made back kn the 60s I believe. Its a shame they stopped making that razor. As for the OP...there is no difference other than packaging. Yellow packs are commonly found here and the black are found flashers. The thing to look for is the color of the wrapper. The light blue means it is their hi-stainless and a darker blue/black color on the wrapper marks a carbon steel blade. But the carbon steel blades are found in a blue/ yellow box.
I think that they are the same and the only difference is the packaging for marketing reasons: the black ones are for Asia market and the yellows are for the rest of the world.
I need to correct myself, there are two carbon steel wrappers. The DE wrapper is green, and the SE is black. Here are some pics for your enjoyment: Stainless SE - Carbon SE - Stainless DE - Carbon DE -
