These two razors are some of my best shaving modern non vintage safety razors. They are the Timeless Titanium & the Stainless .68 blade gap OC razors. For me after lightning up both of these razors from there factory configurations made them perfect shavers for me and changed there shave characteristics a little. I did this by adding a lighter and shorter handle to both razor heads.(The Razo Rock S/S thin bar handles at 40g in weight and 76mm in length 10mm diameter did the job perfectly for me). Both of these razors are very smooth and very efficient shavers. The Titanium razor now weighs 64g & the Stainless razor weighs in at 82g a little heavier around the weight of a Fat Boy. ** So what's your guys best shaving modern Safety Razor?? Happy Shaves Everyone, Bill G
they are very nice looking razors.here's my 2 cents,i have bought and sold a couple of ss razors,(razo-rock mamba, and a fendrihan offering),along with a couple of different ss handles, gave them all away to friends.while they shaved well, they could never replace the "original" gillettes i both love and enjoy.i totally respect anyone who uses ss modern DE razors, but in my mind they are well made modified versions of the original.anyone who uses modern DE razors gets the benefit of 120+ years of R and D..i woild still like to try a Colonial Razor's Silversmith, but unlikely to spend the $$ they are worth today..that said,i ponder on the gamechanger and karve sites a bit still but back out in the end .i have invested a lot into my gillette collection and don't want to sideline it..in for a penny as they say.
I totally get the vintage Gillette razors as I have quite a collection of them myself and love the way they shave. I also believe there are some great modern safety razors on the market. The key thing is enjoying the whet shaving experience and getting great shaves. I find that I am able to do this with my vintage Gillette collection of razors & my Schick 274 Krona razors as well as a few modern DE razors such as the Timeless razors above that I also enjoy. The Razo Rock Game Changer is a nice razor and darn hard to beat for the money. I have and use the .76 plate on my Game Changer and it’s a fine shaver. * I would use any DE razor vintage old Gillette or newer model DE over any modern cartridge razor…Lol Happy Shaves, Bill G
I don’t have a lot of modern razors but I can give high marks to the Merkur Futur and the Parker Variant.
The Blackland Blackbird is hands down the best modern razor I've used, probably because it isn't a 'one size fits all' razor. Most other modern razors are retreads of old designs in a revamped package, imo.
We're almost on the same page here. For me, the Blackland Era is tops, followed by the Blackbird Lite. Hot on Blackland's heels come the Yates and the Karve CB.
