Just read that Burt Shavitz passed away earlier today. If you're in the US odds are that you or someone in your family have used one of his many great products sometime in the past 30 years or so.
I'll have a moment of silence for the man who created the worst shave soap in the history of humankind. His aftershave was excellent.
the shaving soap doesn't get much love around here, but Burts Bees did make a lot of other great products. the lip balm in the tin is excellent. they are a natural company that can be found locally so I hope someone takes over instead of them going under.
Well, technically they were Clorox' bees since 2007 when they bought the company for a bit shy of a billion dollars (925 million or so).
Never met the man, so I can't mourn him. I never liked most of the products, but I don't hold him accountable as that was all bought and sold years ago.
Some of his products were the bee's knees. What , bees don't have knees ? That's fine his shave soap doesn't have lather. So I guess it's even. In all seriousness though, I wish his family the best in handling his passing.
