How would you compare and contrast the Platinum Lux vs the Swedish Supersteel?

It is pretty much a coin toss for me with the Platinum Lux winning out by a hair (Pun intended).

Just ordered some Ruskie blades, a mix of Voskhods, 2 Types of Rapira Ladas and Sputniks. For $10.80 shipped, you really can't miss.

I knew that the Ruble had plummeted against the dollar in the last few months. And, the Ruble, I believe, will continue to stay low against the dollar as long as oil prices stay low.

But, I never translated that knowledge into the practical of "how will this affect shaving?"

    Thanks for the heads up.

Just read on the bbc homepage that the Euro is at a 9 year low. So if you were ever thinking of getting Martin De Candre, now could be a good time.

Well, I just broke down and bought 650 blades. This was 5 variety packs consisting of 130 blades for $5.00 plus shipping. All told it was under $40.00 with the shipping. These are some great deals. What I actually bought is here.

Here's hoping these prices remain reasonably low until I can figure out if one of these is a winner for me.

For me, both are nice and sharp but the Swedes are quite a bit smoother. My favorite blade in a couple of my razors. But @Gilligan and Walter you should try them both and see which you prefer. I've got 200 of the Swedish on the way from Russia via eBay myself.

Is this seller reliable? I don't need more blades but for that price.

Bought from Unuta77 before and found them very reliable and cheap......just not as cheap as they are now!
I just wish the Russian Gillettes would drop too!

I jumped in and bought a 100 blade variety pack from Unuta77 and with shipping, it was $10.70
I read the thread and saw that the Swedish Steel was highly recommended so I went with the one he had that included that.

    1. Voskhod - 20 blades

    2. Rapira Platinum Lux - 20 blades

    3. Rapira Swedish Supersteel - 20 blades

    4. Ladas - 20 blades

    5. Sputnik - 20 blades

    Thanks for the heads up!

For what it's worth, my skin does not like the Lux - I get irritation and not the smoothest shaves.

With the Supersteel, all is shave-heaven. A good deal better than the Lux. For me. YMMV :)

Is there anywhere that sells samples of these? I would like to get a few in to compare the two before I buy any. PS thanks for your tips.
