I have managed to get my hands on a rare (I think) Razor. I found an eBay seller whose grandfather was a sales manager at Gillette in Isleworth years ago I have some nice photos and memorabilia from her and I also managed to buy from her a gold razor with a 70s tech style handle and top plate and an open comb base plate. I just assume it was a one off gift or a possible prototype or just a piece of fun ?? Here are some pics and the box it came in, anyone seen anything like it before ?
It's in very good condition. With the thin gold wash most got they show wear if used. The handle looks much like an aluminum type for the knurling pattern. Good looking razor! Give the TSD Hive Mind & Brain Trust a couple of minutes, or a week and someone will have the model and date of manufacture for you. There's only one photo of the bottom of the base plate. Any markings or numbers?
Nope, nothing on the underside no UK or USA made or date codes etc, that’s what makes me think it was never meant for sale to the public…… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Looks like a hybrid Tech/New LC. It's real nice, and if I'm not mistaken, I've heard of something like this. Either a prototype and/or a few made for evaluation.
An OC last-generation Tech is unusual, though not particularly rare. They seem to show up in the French market a lot and appear under various Gillette brands such as Nacet. What seems to be really rare about this one is the fact that it is Gold. By the time this one would have been made, Gillette didn't seem to make very many Gold razors and I'm not sure I've ever seen a Gold Tech from that generation. It's definitely some kind of presentation piece; I'm thinking maybe a internal reward.
It would be absolutely amazing if You were able to scan or post images of these documents. For one thing, you have a price list, which could list all those razors and sets offered during that period. Which TTO’s, “sets”, Tech configurations, etc. There could be some more too.
hello sir..that is one fine late model oc tech..please post a pick in the "gillette's finest"thread..very cool..
Only have seen the stuff here: I've tried searching for it and could only ever find snippets from UK advertising, much like what is shown...
