I've noticed several posts lately from new members about types of razors. As I have found myself with some free time on my hands, I went thruogh some I had put aside. Please understand these razors will not be the centerpiece of a collection and they won't make you any money on ebay, however they do shave great. (I have tried each and they have been cleaned and sanitized with Barbercide.) 1, Gillette "Thick Handle" 3 piece "Tech". Plating loss on handle and head. 2, Gillette 3 piece open comb. Plate loss on head and wear on handle. 3, Gillette early Superspeed some plate loss and the twist to open (TTO) is messed up you have to kind of push on as you unscrew it, you will figure it out. This is one of the first razors I bought and it shaves well. 4, Gillette late Superspeed black paint worn on handle small scratch on top. 5, Gillette "Fatboy" adjustable some plate loss and wear on handle. As I said these razors are not perfect in and of themselves, they are perfect for learning the different types and how they shave. If you are interested in them post here. What the heck, I'll even throw in some blades to get you started. EDIT: I should have said I'll give all these. They are boxed up and ready to go. I'm afraid I can't really send them out one by one.
Newbie Razors I've heard so much about the "Fatboy" razors and I'd like to give one a try. Right now I'm using a Tech and CVS blades. Thanks for keeping me in mind.
I would be interested in the #4 on your list there. I had said that I wasn't interested in trying a DE again but have re-thought that somewhat after reading a bit here and am willing to try. After all it's been a lot of years since my last go round with a DE. I promise to give it a fair trial and if it doesn't work out for my particular needs I will pass it along to some other newbie so that it will hopefully find a good home.
I'm a straight razor user and lately I've been hankering to give DE shaving a try as well. Sounds like you've got more than enough to get me started. How much would you like to ship 1st class to Canada?
Since I'm kinda iffy on whether or not I will like a DE at this point, I think I'll withdraw my name from this one as I'd hate to take on that many razors at one time. I'd rather just have one to try so I'll pass on this one and let someone else have a go.
If you're taking more names, please add mine. I just got back from vacaction and almos missed my chance.
Thanks!! PM sent. I'll give them a whirl, see what works, and what doesn't work I'll pass on to another newbie down the road. Jason
