Razor ID help

I picked this up over the weekend for $18.00. It has archdale on the bottom of the base plate. I have had no luck on the web finding anything about this kind of razor. I am hoping someone out there can help.

You have secured a Unique Razor! I'm guessing the manufacture only made that one model, and for a short period of time. After you give it a cleaned up & test shave the next step is deciding if it's handsome enough to keep as is, or get it replated.

 

"Once Over Shave"? What's up with that? And what's on the other side of the cap (or is that just a reflection)?

 

I just notice that it looks as if there is a curvature to the head and cap.. Like an s shape..

Never seen or heard of Archdale before but Waltz has this to say:

 

Googled "archdale safety razor" and got several results including the patent.

 

The other side says close shave. I will giving her a go in The morning. Someone painted it black. As I was cleaning it the paint started coming off.

 

"Once Over Shave" and "Close Shave"... obviously two different levels of aggressiveness.

 

I used the close shave side today and it lived up to the name. it is a very aggressive angle on it. here it is 8 hours later and my face still feels smooth.

 

I'd say you got your money's worth, and then some.
