I've got three main razors I switch between. Mainly just for fun, because they all shave about the same.

    Merkur 1904 Open Comb
    Merkur 23c Long handle
    Weishi 9306 TTO

I enjoy them all, and I like the shave that I get from them. The thing is, they're all pretty much equally mild. I'd like to get something inexpensive, and a bit more aggressive. I was wondering about the Cadets, but also wondering what some people who have more experience would suggest.

I'm not really all that interested in vintage, as I'd rather just buy one than chase something down through Ebay. Also, I tend to go for inexpensive because I'm an admitted gear whore. I like to use something until I'm bored with it, then I pass it on to someone else, a friend or coworker, to try. So, I'm not going to do that with an expensive or vintage razor, you know?

Any comments or recommendations welcome, even if you want to tell me why I'm wrong.

You could try a combo effect. SLAB with Cadet OC Head. A favorite of mine.

    How aggressive are the Cadets?

GDCarrington: I think you have too much time, and too many razors! lol

I was going to say the RazoRock Jaws OC but my understanding is it's the same as the Cadets. It performs really different with blades you might be used to. I had to find a different blade match for it not to be too harsh, but once past that, it's a great cheap razor!

I'm very partial to the Merkur 11C right now, you can still find them from time to time popping up on Giftsandcare.com I dunno where Juan is getting the New Old Stock but I'm glad I discovered he did!

Why not just go all the way and get a Muhle r41? It is really too bad you're limiting yourself to new. They're all pot metal or really expensive razors that may or may not rust.

Why drop a lot on something I'll likely give away for free?

Also the Muhle is within your Merkur price range. Just avoid the pricey US Vendors and go with Connaught from UK http://connaughtshaving.com/mur41.html that is $35.54 in USD. Plus like $4 shipping.

Thanks for the UK link, I'll keep that in consideration. The first one I saw was about twice that price! I've actually looked at that Yuma, but after having experienced those cheap razors before, I think I'll pass!
