So I know lots of you have many many razors, be it straights or safety razors. My question is how do you choose your rotation? I know some of you guys have 7 day sets for razors. But what about everyone else?
Unlike my soaps that have a "use the one next in line, then it goes to the end" rotation, I don't do that with my razors or brushes. I do have a few things set, though. Monday - Friday will be a DE, with one of my Merkurs on Monday. The rest are picked on a whim. Saturday will be a straight, no set rotation of the three I have. Sunday will be an SE, no set rotation.
:think002 Coulda swore there was an active thread about this around here somewhere..... Anyway, absolutely no set rotation in any aspect of my shave routine, other than being sure to include menthol in my shave somehow, and observing Menthol Mondays.

Lol Bill, :happy102 As for a rotation I don't have one really, whatever I feel like that day is what I use.... I tend not to rotate brushes though, I usually stick with the same one for a week or so....
I can claim the "I'm still new at this.." excuse for just so long.. I have no real logic to it.. it's what ever seems to jump out at me.
If it's one of my DE or SE razors, I use it until the current blade is used up, then pick up whatever takes my fancy next. If it's an injector razor, I might put it aside before using up the blade, noting how many shaves I have on it. I still have several razors I haven't used yet. I cycle them in between the tried and true ones. Once I've used them all, we'll see what kind of rotation I settle in to. I believe in using every razor I've got that isn't actually broken, but some may become display items after getting their chance. No set day for certain types of razors, and I recently went three months without using a DE.
It seems we collectors of shave paraphernalia all have a favorite razor, brush, blade, soap or AS that we don't stray too far from each week. The rotations we have all revolve around the familiar and only stray to the unusual or those not mastered. There always seems to be a new favorite that bumps another to the end of the line and then is returned to with passion another day. I think the endless combination's in our collections is the lure that fuels our passion for the wet shave and our desire to share and observe each others knowledge and excitement. My own rotation is only limited to my next discovery. OR There could be some kinda science to it . . . :whacky011
I used to rotate my straights the way some of you use soaps. Pick one for one shave then move down tne line. Nowadays I'm in love with my grelot and it's the only thing I plan to use. In fact I just ordered another one in rams horn scales. Lol looks like there will be a few razors up for sale now out of my collection. Now my hard choice will be bone? Or horn?
I am sure! :happy102 I still claim to be new at this. I am still learning and improving, even if I have more safety razors than I care to admit (and yes I know my haul link is way out of date). I pick whatever I feel like. If that means that a razors sits for months without being used then so be it. I will go a week or so with a Gem G-bar. Then a mood hits and I go to a Gillette NEW. Some weeks I swap back and forth daily between 7 different razors. I think I have been on the same tech for about 2 weeks (probably my longest stretch of using the same razor in over two years time).
For my part As I noted in another thread, I'm calling a month-long halt to rotation. I'm still getting nicked/scarred and so I'm using one razor/blade combo in order to get myself a proper technique. Too much giving in to ADs. I must get it together one way and then I can play with my toys.
I love menthol too. I have been using HeadSlick shaving cream. It lathers up really nicely and has a great menthol cooling to it.
My rotation consists of a monthly theme. This month it's vintage gillette's . Next month Vintage non gillette . 5 razors per month with 2 blades each, changed every 3rd day. I shave with each razor 6 days in a row, that way I get to know each razor. With this RAD, I have to buy 1 more razor, so I can have a new razor month. Anyone got any suggestions for a new razor ? My rotation will not work unless I have 5 for each theme. SWMBO doesn't quite understand, so I had to show her the math............... I think she gets it now.
