I picked up this vintage tobacco pipe and loose leaf holder at a tag sale for... 90 cents! So, I went over to Home Depot, bought some sandpaper, wood stain and a brush; I did a first coat this evening and I will post later with results. What do you guys think? It seems perfect. 6 Slots for razors, a large bowl for storage of creams, lotions, etc.
So, I filled it up with all my blades, and my new shaving bowl from Walmart fits perfectly on top where I put my products =]
Great job on the pipe holder! Turned out really nice, and....you've got yourself a nice little shave den going on there.
Is there such a thing as shave den envy? Great job with the restore. Just for my own knowledge in case I do something along the same line, did the stain you used have any water repelling properties?
I believe it does. thanks for the compliments that bowl was a score too. it has ridges like a suribachi bowl... which I couldn't anywhere locally. they're carried at walmart and retain heat very well.
WTG! It looks wonderful.*Claps* I would suggest keeping your blade packs away from the sink & moisture. Many shavers store extra blades outside of the bathroom altogether, as the humidity can cause premature corrosion.
thanks everyone! it's nice to get some actual feedback. my patents and girlfriend weren't exactly as psyched as I am.
What do I think? Doesn't matter what I think. What I know, though, is that you've done a super job! Well done, Sir!!
Flea markets and tag sales = win. I have 3 super speeds coming in the mail today to add to my stand 1952, 55 and 57. One 40's style, and 2 flair tips.
