I've had some awesome shaves with this awesome soap. Price: 9/10. Not bad for a 4 oz container. Quality: 10/10. Razorock is made in Italy by artisans. This galls in right along the other finely made Italian soaps. Scent: 10/10. It's kind of an earthy/musky scent. I love it. Lather: 9/10. It's a soft Italian soap. It doesn't take much effort. But don't hold out on the water. Efficacy: 10/10. It's slick, cushiony, rinses off cleanly, and leaves your skin feeling great. Moisturizing Properties: 10/10. My face feels awesome after I hit it with cold water. I don't need an aftershave when I use this soap. I should have bought two containers of this soap. I believe this is my favorite soap. Razorock is no joke. If you have trouble lathering soap, try any Razorock soap to get your confidence up. Thanks for reading.
I bought this soap about 2 years ago when I was visiting my son in Phoenix. Ended up leaving it there and it was forgotten until I returned last sping. Wow this is great soap. Wish I had purchased more. Easy to lather, great shave, and great feeling skin. I'm lucky it didn't get used up in my absence.
Nice review, thank you for sharing. I agree with you on everything you rated except for the price. I'd definitely rate the price a 10 as I consider this particular soap a really excellent deal. One of the best deals in wet shaving products in fact. After all, you're getting a copy of the $70 Aqua de Parma soap for $10, and personally I like it better than the $70 version.
Have not tried the new formula yet. I am still working on my tub of the old but I really like that. It does lather up nicely for me and does smell really nice. Picked up a couple of tubs of the new formula as well as a couple of the p160, which was a little bit too strong on the marzipan side for me.
DonR, the soap you bought and forgot and the soap the OP reviewed are not the same soap. This is a newer formulation that was just released about a week and a half to maybe two weeks ago. By most accounts it is as good as, if not better than, the one you are talking about. So, if you really like it, you can go to Italian Barber and get some more when you run out of the first one. No worries about not buying more back then.
Just out of curiosity (I have this new XXX) was this the same scent as the original formulation? Don't forget that this is the 3rd iteration of RR XXX, the second one had a scent that was not the same as the first, which was apparently darn near identical to AdP. I love the scent myself was just curious if this is still an AdP type or something new.
I have the first and the third version. Huge difference. The first version smelled very strong like a cologne and the third version smells nice, but absolutely not as powerful as the "original" version. You can smell the mentioned cologne far far away in the background. I like the scent nevertheless.
Great review Ryan thanks and an informative thread. Thanks gents, looks like another soap for the wish list.
Thanks for the review, Ryan! I do like the XXX soap, although I'm not sure which version I have (purchased late last year, I believe). It is a very nice easy-lathering soft soap…
