I have been following, all I can find, on the forum and elsewhere, about Stirling Aftershaves, which appear to be very well liked by many. Below are photos of what I received today. By now some of you have figured out that I am an Aftershave Whore and that's no secret! My problem with this order, is that there are plenty of reviews and comments, for me to use as comparisons, to my impressions of them, for the Sandpiper, Arkadia & Stirling Gentleman, however, there are no reviews or comments, on what appears to be a new, but maybe not too popular aftershave, Stirling One. Of course, I will do my best to review it, but I always like to be able to read other reviews and comments, for comparison with my thoughts. Has anyone else tried the Stirling One, which only comes in a 2.oz bottle?
The politically correct term is ASAD - Aftershave Acquisition Disorder, but I'll let it slide . Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
I believe Stirling One was a limited Black Friday item. I got the bath soap and it made me wish I'd have jumped on that one. FWIW, try The Stirling Exchange under soaps. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/the-stirling-exchange.53363/ You will find much on Stirling there. We'd love to see your reviews.
I have both the soap and AS of Stirling One, it is a homage to Dolce and Gabbana "The One". I quite like it. Here was the original page for the soap: https://webcache.googleusercontent....cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-b-1-d
Watch out for those reviews that say a particular aftershave has a great "sent". But seriously, yes, doing reviews on a website is good.
Stirling products are very good. I’m waiting on an order myself. Still going with samples this far, except for the MITA balm. I love that scent and I’m out of balm, so I ponied up. I have also bought the bath soap and shampoo bar. I have yet to use the bath soap, but my son has (Barbershop) and likes it, although he says it takes 30 seconds to lather. This surprises me, because the shampoo bar lathers up great in about 5 seconds. I love Stirling’s shampoo bars. My hair has never looked better and I don’t even need to use conditioner. Seems to last a nice long time too. I have af MITA shampoo bar on the way, but I doubt I’ll need it until June. Great Stuff!
Who knows...perhaps shampoo bars will be included as future Stoylin Tony Award nominations.....or the one happening now!!
My experience with the bath soap is the same. I used Electric Sheep today and it did indeed put up more of a fight than many other soaps. Electric Sheep anything smells exactly like Lemon Pledge. Not quite what I remember reading on their site. Lol Good lather from the shave soap though. C
I don't know about pledge. I'd lean more towards a Lemon Head. However the citronella is strong. It's one of my favorites so I'm a little biased.
I started using the “Almost Heaven” bath soap this week. Bought it for my wife, but we’re both using it. It lathers up perfectly fine. No issues. So it may be that different scents require different formulations that impact lathering in the bath soaps somewhat. My wife bought me some bath soap from “Lush” for a Valentine’s Day. Really expensive IMO. And it barely lathered up at all. I wasn’t impressed with that soap one bit. Caswell and Massey has always been my favorite. But I like to try new things. I have a few different bars of the Stirling now, so we’ll see how how they do.
@NTR I'm interested in hearing your experiences with them. I'm looking for a "higher-grade" bath soap, pomade, and shampoo, now that I see the world of difference between good shave soaps and creams and the canned goo I used for 40 years. I'm also wondering if that kind of difference exists in toothpastes, but I don't want to derail the thread. I bought the bar of Electric Sheep bath soap only to put me over the threshold for free shipping at the vendor I used for that order, so essentially I got it for free by not having to pay shipping on my order. Not thrilled with the scent, but certainly not "put off" by it. My other Stirling soaps and aftershaves I'm much more impressed with. I just can't shake the mental notion that someone sprayed me with Lemon Pledge as I was walking out of my den that morning! lol The other scents I've tried are much more complex and, IMO, pleasing. Definitely YMMV, probably in scents even more than the rest of this world. C
@MaxG, I’ll keep you posted! About that Lemon Pledge smell. You may want to give it more time. I had a sample soap/AS set from another vendor that was supposed to smell like an Orange Grove by the beach (or something like that!). First time I used it it smelled exactly like ....Lemon Pledge! Meaning furniture polish, with some lemon essence. Thought for sure I was done with it, but I gave it another try and either it evolved or I dis, becAause now I’m smelling more complexity, and the furniture polish smell is gone. Weird huh? Someone mentioned that the only problem with the Stirling soaps is that they don’t last as long as triple milled soaps. So I’m assuming they aren’t triple milled. I’m curious to see how long they last, because that’s important in a high quality soap IMO. Caswell and Massey soaps are tripled milled, have wonderful scents and last a long time. Very high quality stuff, which I recommend highly.
