Omega also makes the 11047, a badger boar mix that sells for around $17. It does have a smaller handle than most.

I am a fan of both...I know, I know—that's akin to liking both Ohio St and Michigan.
If I had to choose between the two, I would probably take the Semogue as it is a bit less moppish, more backbone. Both are quite soft.
I'm awaiting arrival of another Omega, however, a Silvertip that may swing the balance in Omega's favor. We'll see....

Of course that's going to depend on what model you get.
My Semogue 2000 is more moppish, less backbone than my Omega 11574.
But, as you stated, both are quite soft.

Just emailed Larry ( Whipped Dog ) and ordered a brush
    - 30mm resin brush #R30BG w/silvertip knot.. I did some online research... It will be hard to beat for only $42.00 shipped !
Can't wait to try it out...

You'll find it terrific for generating ample amount of lather; Ultra-soft tips means no scritch, so if you wish to have a brush that has a bit more backbone or firmness on the face, there are other choices.
I do enjoy having the WD in the brush rotation—very luxurious feeling—but there are times when I prefer a more aggressive or firm lathering.

30mm? "Ample" is an understatement. :)
I can generate "ample" with my 22mm.
"Unreasonable" might be a bit more appropriate! :D

Enjoy your new brush, btbill! And make sure you post some pics!!

How about 'Unfathomable'? 'Inexhaustible'? 'Indescribable'? 'Unquenchable'?:)

:happy102: yeah, I hit the thesaurus for "excessive" and "unreasonable" just kinda hit my funny bone. :D

30 mm? Well, if you don't like it, you will have the world's most expensive feather duster. That's a huge knot!

I guess that's why the 24 mm was sold out...( it's the proper , most common size ? )
It was an impulse buy, after searching the net..... had to get something !

Just me, but I prefer 22mm. I do have a 24mm and that's on the verge of just a tad too big for me. But, as I said, that's me.

Fear not the 30mm knot! ;)
I love the size, and the knot is set low so as not to be the least bit floppy.

    30mm compared to 20-22mm knots...

Make sure that you don't color on the walls....that has a tendency to upset "She Who Must be Obeyed"!

Don't be afraid to try boar. After a lot of badger brushes I was forced to admit to myself I simply preferred the backbone of boar.

My vote: Semogue 1305 (but it you like a huge brush, that Omega'49 is the cat's pajamas).

This is an old thread back from the dead lol. I've been using an Omega Pro 49 and I love it.
