I know a lot of you guys have been at this longer than me (I'll start my third year as a DE shaver this December) but remember when West Coast Shaving only sold blades and there were only a small number of retail stores from which to buy your favorite soaps and creams, etc? I think it's a testament to how popular our little hobby has become. The new DE shaving boom shows no signs of slowing down as new members are joining our forums every day. I'm excited to be a part of it.
I'm really surprised that it ever lost popularity. I don't know how people were ever sold on trading their nice handles that took inexpensive blades for crappy disposables or sub-par cartridge razors that cost an arm and a leg to use.
A marketing campaign based on quickness and convenience can do wonders for a product. I'm sure that if people knew how many skin problems these new and improved products could potentially cause them in the future, our fathers and grandfathers would have never switched and we wouldn't have to be learning all this stuff on our own!! Haha.
