Wanted a second nylon brush (is this how it starts?) and got this one for cheap. The lucite and aluminum should polish up fine. Assuming the knot is still in tight, how would you repair the crack? I've got an idea but am seeking wisdom from the brush experts.

If you plan on keeping the original nylon knot, I'd use either JB Weld or epoxy to fill the crack. Then sand it smooth and polish it up. Epoxy might be better if you want to keep it from showing too much. I've also added a few drops of paint to the epoxy to give it some color.

Yup. Scrub and polish the aluminum, seal crack with Steel Stik, sand it smooth, then touch up with aluminum paint. With luck, barely noticeable.

Definitely keeping the knot, nylon is what I like.

One thing I forgot to mention. If you add a drop or two of paint when mixing the epoxy, it'll take a little bit longer to cure. looks better than touching up afterwards.

Initial polish. The aluminum will need work. Haven't dealt with the crack yet.

Sorry to weigh in on this late ...... but if the knot is solid I'd follow Jim's advice. If the knot is loose, pull it make repairs and re-knot.

    :)
