I was wondering if any has ever used this company to "revamp" a razor (straight or safety)? http://www.razoremporium.com/razor-revamp-service/ I am in no way affiliated with this company nor am I promoting this company whatsoever in any form or fashion.
WHEW! Asking about this company is like trying to catch a lightning bolt in your bare hands. Some people love them, some people passionately hate them, and you will find every answer in between. If you research them on Google, you will find that they have a inconsistent reputation and I would advise you to read and decide if you are willing to work with them or not. I have two razors I want restored in a specific way and RE are one of the few companies that say they can do it the way I want. Now, like you, I have to decide whether to chance it or not.
they are trying to build a better buisness ethic like putting in a platting shop in house so they do not have to send them out for a quicker turn around and upgrading their quality control issues they are aware of their reputation in the field and are turning it around one step at a time like you I did read the google reviews and gave them a shot and was pleased with the out come. take care.
Yes, I have. I used them before I found out about their reputation. After the revamp, I would use them again.
I used there Razor tune up service on a Gillette Slim with a tapered blade gap. I'd definitely use them again. They emailed me when they received it and when they shipped back within there estimated time frame. Not only did fix it but came back looking great they really did a good job cleaning and polishing it up.
Thanks for the advice...I looked at their website and it seems they are more of a plating/finishing service and not a "revamp" (meaning fixing loose hinges or stuck knobs) service. Am I mistaken?
I have dealt with Nick and no he does not repair razors. He might replace end caps but not much beyond that. His turnaround is very quick however.
