I must admit I am a new entrant into the world of silvertip brushes. I have been using canned goop for many years and only recently I graduated to using fine silvertip brushes for shaving. The first silvertip I acquired was a Muhle Silvertip in buffalo horn and I used the brush for about 2 months before SBAD got hold of me. I therefore decided to buy my second brush and based on all the reviews and recommendations on this site, I acquired a Rooney 3/1 in coral from vintage blades. Today was the first time I shaved with this brush. What can I say, I was BLOWN away by the Rooney. Firstly the size and shape of the brush is perfect for face lathering, which I prefer. The construction is solid and top notch. I don’t care much for the coral color, but neither is it disgusting. I would have much preferred tortoise shell, but vintage blades did not have them in stock. The super silvertip bristles on this brush are brilliant. They are quite dense and not at all scritchy – in fact they massaged my face quite beautifully. Now for the best part – the brush is a lather bomb. It generated copious amounts of lather and willingly gave it away onto the face. All and all a brilliant brush and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I might end up buying one in tortoise shell as and when its available.
I have the tortoise shell in 3/1 and it is a beautiful brush. It is an overall superb brush and a terrific value!
