Here's my take on Tend Skin Air Shave Shave Gel (not the anti-ingrown hair treatment). Price: On drugstore.com you can get it for $11.99 for 8 oz. or $19.99 for 16 oz. Other sizes may be available on the Tend Skin website. But, a little dab goes a long way. So, you'll have the bottle for a good while even with daily use. Ingredients: (perhaps of concern to some) Water, Glycerin, Polyquaternium 10, Dimethicone Copolyol (Silica), Polysorbate 20, PVP/VA Copolymer, Parometachloroxylenol, Tetrasodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Chloroxylenol, Fragrance, FD&C Blue 1 (CI 42090) Lather: It's a brushless gel which does not lather at all. This to me is a slight negative as I like my lather. Plus, it's easier to see where I've missed when there's lather. Longevity: A small dab (about the size of a dime) applied to a wet beard lasts for two passes at least. Although, you might wish to reapply between passes. Skin Care & Effectiveness: Excellent. My skin is left completely non-irritated and I get a close shave no matter what blade or system I use (DE, SE/GEM, or Cart). Slickness: Like an underwater swimming penguin with a rocket strapped to it's back. Really excellent stuff. (the fastest penguins -- the Gentoo -- can swim underwater at up to 22 MPH without the rocket btw.) Scent: Bit of a downfall here and it may take a little getting used to. The scent has the asprin-y note of Tend Skin lotion with a more chemically twist. It's not for everyone, to be sure. But, after a few uses, I was able to get past it. It's maybe a 4-ish in intensity out of 10. Usage: Easy as can be It's great as a stand alone shave gel or as a pre-shave treatment. It seems to just about instantly soften my coarse beard. Where I really like to use it is as a base coat under my regular lather when SE shaving as I find that I need extra slickness when using SE. Would I buy it again?: I already have.
