I usually don't rinse between passes, but decided to do so today for some unknown reason. So, I got to thinking about whether or not most people rinse their face after each pass. What do you do?
I started out rinsing between each pass, then stopped that for a while. Don't know why, guess I figured it would save some time. Then I started rinsing between passes again and discovered I was getting smoother shaves. Guess that's why they call it "wet shaving", your face should be wet!
Never even really thought about it. I guess it makes some sense but I always figured the previous lather maintained enough water until the next lather. Maybe I'll try it the other way now -- almost certainly I will.
Why? If you're using a brush it should be plenty wet for a re-lather and your face is already hydrated. I'll file this one with blade flipping and hand stropping.
Wow! Wish I was veteran enough to be so bold. As it is I have to process every idea as though it's something new to me... Because it is. That being said, my first reaction was very much the same as yours.
I put water on my face before applying lather. I am not rinsing exactly, but I have noticed a wet face tends to have better lather than a dry one.
I guess that's really what I meant - I re-wet my face. Of course, any left-over lather from the previous pass gets rinsed away during the re-wetting, thus the reason for me saying I rinse. Semantics.
+1 on the re-wet idea. It also gives me a chance to see how well I did on the previous pass and whether there are any spots I'll need to hit in a clean-up pass.
This. I also re-wet my face as opposed to "rinse". I don't try to remove soap, only seek to add water.
