Canada lost a beloved daughter last Monday. Kate McGarrigle and her sister have performed as the McGarrigle Sisters since the 1970s, and had enormous influence on country and folk music both here and in the United States. Kate McGarrigle died of cancer at the age of 63. She is survived by her sister Anna and her children, Rufus and Martha Wainright.
I hope this will not be considered rude but I can't help but note her resemblance to Senator Barbara Boxer in that picture.
