I have Trumpers Rose soap. That isn't going to change. I see there are several TSD aftershave rose scent choices: Lavender and Rose Wild Rose Victorian Rose Rose Petals Eternal Roses Which of these would you recommend? Cologne must at least have a rose note... please make suggestions. Of course, your suggestion can also be a TSD scent but that is not completely necessary. I have never really been a cologne guy. Currently I only have two, Grey Flannel and Gurlain Vetiver. As you can see, I really need the help.
I'm a huge fan of TSD Patchouli Rose. It's a lovely, musky rose scent. How about picking up samples? JoAnna does us all a great service with samples. At only $2.75/bottle for TDS scents, they're a bargain. You could try all of the stuff on your list, plus Patchouli Rose for $16.50 before shipping... just a thought. Edit -> Those are the AS Splash samples at that price - not cologne. Sorry... still a bargain and a nice way to try the scents!
The only rose I have and/or tried is TSD Wild Rose. I really like it. Ooops. I just realized this is the Aftershave Forum. My TSD Wild Rose is soap, not AS, so you can take that for what it's worth.
I have TSD damascus rose milk and wheat shaving cream. I wish the smell stayed around a little longer. I think on my next order I will be getting the wild rose cologne myself since I don't believe the damascus is available any more. I have never smelled the wild rose cologne myself but I have been cutting some down lately and like the smell. I wouldn't mind them around my pond but they are kind of invasive and thorny.
Okay... not much love for the rose here. I decided to order samples of most rose variants plus a few others.
While I have not used this as of yet, I understand that Murray and Lanman makes a great Florida water Rose scent. I know the Florida Water is outstanding in all aspects including price.
MMmm... that Rose of Bulgaria looks enticing! But prior to application of the TSD offerings, don't forget that an intermediate step could be to first mute any post shave irritation with:
I've used this Thayers for my face and I LOVE IT. I'm biased; I use a lot of rose water in cosmetics/toiletries as well as cooking. I've also used The Art of Shaving After-Shave Body Milk in Rose Absolute, but you'd have to ignore the fact it's aimed at women. I'm going to have to order samples too I guess; I love rose but I'm so picky about it. OldAF let us know what all your samples are like! Some of us will need rose guidance. : )
I have not tried a rose scent from Joanna but love all the TSD's splashes and milks that I have tried. As such, you can't really go wrong with a TSD selection. I currently use D.R. Harris Pink as a rose-scented aftershave splash. It is a light rose scent that fades quickly, but works well as an aftershave. I also have a Damascena Rose aftershave balm from Saint Charles Shave that smells very good and works great.
I, too, like the aftershave balm from SCS, but am having a problem with the Damascena Rose cologne. The first couple bottles I bought smelled great, but the last bottles I got smelled like a completely different product and the scent doesn't last anytime at all. I plan on returning the last bottle just to see if they can tell me what happened -- why the scent changed so dramatically.
August is going to be my 'Rose' month. When I get back from vacation I'm going to order some rose themed products from TSD to match up with my TSD Victorian Rose shave cream. I'm thinking some Rose Thayers, followed by Iced Victorian Rose aftershave splash will be perfect for the hot August temperatures.
Oh man, I didn't want to hear that. I was going to order some of that Damascena Rose EDT myself. The TSD aftershave samples arrived and have tried the Wild Rose which is wonderful and the Patchouli rose which is... pungent. Really pungent. I splashed it on with abandon and found that a little Patchouli rose goes a loooong way. This stuff has legs. I think I'll stay with the pure rose scents for awhile.
