Looks like Joe has possibly switched artisans on the his original RR soap line. If you look on ebay, he's begun selling a new formulation of RR Classic at an introductory price. I'm sure the new formula is great, but the original formula/consistency is still one of my favorites...kinda makes me sad.
Joe's comments from another board: FYI, we currently use 4 different soap making artisans in Italy; but, they all use our jars and filling dispenser. We are trying to be a little more consistent going forward. Old Classic and Fresco are almost finished and will soon disappear. Very good formulas but going forward, all the shaving soaps will be artisan made and those two were not.
One thing I will say is that the original formula of Classic is actually Fitness For Man/Figaro, which I believe are still commercially available.
Damn! Fresco is was one of my favorites. Not only because of it's scent, but also because it lathers like gangbusters! I will miss it.
anyone have p160 and razorock classic ? how do they compare? i think p160 is really really good. i also noticed the new jar has 125 and the old jar had 150ml the old one was larger and cheaper...the new one is smaller and more expensive.... maybe thats what changed.
I have original P.160 (pre-Razorock conversion), new P.160, Razorock R.160 and Razorock Classic. Original P.160 & RR Classic are two of my absolute favorites. My feeling has been that P.160 is just a bit slicker, but both are awesome with similar scents. RR Classic is a lather bomb. Me, being me, I've already ordered the new formula of RR Classic to compare. Will let everyone know what I think!
And it has arrived! I must say, the scent rocks on this version. IMHO he did a better job with this scent than on his reformulation of P.160. I'd say it's on the "cherry" almond of scent spectrum. I'll give it a whirl for tomorrow's shave and report back.
Took it on a test drive this morning. Not bad! Nice rich lather, irritation-free shave and face still feels soft a couple hours later. A very respectable croap!
